we also take both a real good one for use on the ship, and disposable for the beaches, that way we do not have to worry, about it walking or sand getting into it. This has alway worked great for us.

I normally take the disposables because we have the same fears of it getting damaged or lost. Plus it is an extra thing to put in the carry on. I would not want to check it.

we did digital 100% for our cruise and although i DID get sand in the shutter on the beach and had to pay to clean it, it was TOTALLY worth it because the pictures came out SO CLEAR! plus, my digital camera had a setting for taking "action" shots so the pictures we took on the tenders or driving around weren't blurry. i might pop for a disposable for the next trip to the beach but i'd go with digital the rest of the time for sure!

I always take my digital camera. It's a Canon SD series. It's small enough to fit into your short's front pocket and it takes truly amazing pictures.
We love to snorkel and I tried using disposable cameras for our underwater pictures but they always came out horrible. I ended up buying an underwater casing for my Canon and now take it underwater or to the beach without any worries. And the pictures? They come out so good that people have told me to blow them up and frame them.

Last year I had a Canon Power Shot AF85 digital, worked great & fits in your pocket.... This year also taking my new Canon 20D with 3-lenses, use it for shots for commercial stock photos & sell them on the Web (ShutterStock)..
Helps pay for my camera over time.....

If you take a good camera, get one of these! I plan on taking my Canon Digital Rebel everywhere I go. The otterbox was the best insurance you can get for your camera when traveling.
They have them for PDA's, iPods, etc... Go to otterbox.com for more info.
