Default Airlines

We were booking are airline and cruise together and found out Southwest was having a special to Tampa. We called and canceled are airline tickets and rebooked today and saved$ 400.00.I guess it is better to get your own airline tickets.

I have not had to book flights yet, but I am told to do your own thing. Are you going the day before your cruise?

No I always go the same day. But a lot of people go the day before. We try to go cheap so we can buy more t shirts.

I never buy air fare or pre or post packages from the cruise line. Way over priced.

Spend an hour or two searching the Net and you will save big time.

Thanks for the news about the Southwest fare discount. We had already booked our flights for our cruise in Sept. and I was able to change the fares right online. Thanks for helping me save over $100.00!

Thats true ! If you'll take a few minutes , and do alittle research, you can save alot of money on airfare, and pre and post cruise motel stays.

Nobuns, becareful on fling in on the sameday of your cruise. Specially if you have connecting flights. A little delay here, and a delay there, could make you hit the panic mode Straight flights are not that bad.

Happy Sailing to all;
David

I recently booked the Victory with CCl cruise only and booked my air myself with Delta for 368.00 round trip from BDL(Hartford) to FLL direct both ways. Sometimes you do better booking the flight yourself. Cruise lines will get you to the ship but the return your dead.

Nobuns,

One of my favorite TV shows is "Airline." It's on A&E. After watching this show and seeing what happens to many passengers, I always book our flight to arrive the day before a cruise. Southwest ALWAYS OVERBOOKS their flights and lots of people who have reservations don't get on their intended flight. A delay here and a delay there due to airport security, passenger overbooking, weather, mechanical problems, etc. could mean disaster.

We start our vacation the day before. It's an exciting time. We get a chance to check out a new city, have a nice pre-cruise dinner, and get a good night's sleep.

It is not just Southwest that overbooks; all airlines do that on certain routes. The TA cannot control the overbooking or guarantee that you will not get bumped, so it really does not matter how you book it.

If you are a FF with an anirline, it does help.
