Default When is Proof of Citizenship Needed?

I will be going on a cruise to the Western Carribean (Grand Caymen: Caymen Island, Roatan Island: Honduras, Belize, and Costa Maya).

I was wondering...when will I need to present my Birth Certificate?

I thought I read somewhere that I needed it to get back on the ship while docking at ports of call. Is this true or will I only need it when re-entering the States? If so, I guess I will have to carry it the entire time. Sounds a little risky considering all the swimming/snorkeling I plan on doing. I hate to leave them unattended on the beach.

When are you going on your cruise If its after Dec. 31,2006, you'll need a passport. Unless you already have a passport.
If its before then, You'll need your B.C. and a photo ID of yourself (Ex. drivers Licenses) to board the ship on embarkation. (At the terminal ) Also in the terminal, you will recieve a sign and sail card. This is your room key, and purchase card, and your access to get on and off the ship. Once we board the ship, the wife and I put our B.C. in our room safe, along with our cell phones, wallets, purses, and ect.

In ports of call, you will need your sign and sail card and a picture Id of yourself, to get back on board. So don't loose it on the beach.

Happy Cruising;
David

Must be the ORGINAL birth certificate from your state, not a copy... You need this for each passenger....

Congrats on your upcoming cruise First cruise at that
What ship are you sailing on I think you'll love the Western side. We did

Thanks Bob for meantioning that That's very important Omaits.
Also, If the Captain say's he will set sail at a certain time, and all passengers must be back on board by a certain time, Make sure your onboard by then. Actually, give yourself several extra minutes . My self, I'm there no later than 1-2 hours before sailing.
If your late, he will leave you inport. And its up to you to get to the next port, to meet the ship.

Have a great cruise, and happy sailing;
David

WOW And congrats on your Honeymoon :! You picked a great ship for your first cruise Your going to love the Valor The wife and I sailed on her in May,2006. Thats one ship I could do back-to-back's on with no problem. Man, I'm excited for you.

Since this is a very very special occasion, give Scarletts a try. Its alittle extra, but it will be worth it. There's no better place or atmosphere to celebrate such an important time in both your life's : Also, you can go to Carnival.com, and get a dozen roses for your wife, and have them sent to your cabin. There beautiful, and will last all week. I've ordered them twice myself.

Congrats, and Happy Sailing;
David

I did a quick search on Scarlett's and it does sound like a really good idea. The only thing I am not sure about is the dress code. Is a shirt and tie acceptable? Or, do I have to buy a suit? I am in the process of getting married and buying a house...so funds are a little low. If I can skip the suit, that would be great.

I think you'll be fine with a nice shirt and Tie. Thats what I did. However, if funds are tight, the main dining room will do fine.
The bottom line is to enjoy yourself to the fullest within your means

New wife, new home, all you need now is a new baby, to complete the grandslam

Happy Cruising;
