Default CRUISING ON THE HOLIDAY

My husband and I are taking a cruise on the Holiday in September. We would love to hear from some of you who have cruised on it before. We know it is an older ship. What did you think of it?

Thanks!!

We are cruising the Holiday on September 11. We've never been on a cruise before, and I am so excited! I would love to hear what it is like from anyone who has been on the ship. Libragirl, when are you sailing?

My husband and I are cruising on the HOLIDAY on Sept 21st. It is our first cruise and we are soooo excited - more me than him! I am really looking forward to it, but I get nervous about some of the reviews I've read. Can anybody give me a true picture of how good or bad this ship really is?? I've heard that if you've never cruised before, it's a great ship, but if you've been on bigger ships with more bells and whistles, then you would be dissappointed?

Loveshack,

I've cruised on the Conquest twice, but I prefer the smaller ships. They have put so many staterooms on the larger ships, that it makes the rest of the areas feel more crowded.

This will be my first time on the Holiday, too. I think it will probably be fantastic. So far, I haven't had a bad cruise. They have all been wonderful!!!!

Have a great time!!

THANKS Libragirl! I feel it will be wonderful - I have wanted to go on one all my life, so this is a treat for me! I'm driving my husband crazy! He says he will get excited about a week before!

Its mostly what you make it. The wife and I have cruised on the Inspiration, Conquest, and the Valor. Yes, the bigger ships are pretty, nicer, and have all the newest bells and whistles. But I will also tell you, that one of our best cruises came from a small ship, that actually looked like an overgrown Navy PT boat. The name of that ship was the, Enchanted Isle . Very small ship, in comparsion with the Sensation, Inspiration, and even the Holiday.

We're sailing on the Holiday mostly for a weekend getaway, and a little R & R, and to sail with our son and daughter-in-law. I'm not picky, and I don't have to have everything just so so .
If I have a clean stateroom, a comfortable bed, and some good food to it, and the toilet flushes, I'm good to go.

Libragirl, this will be a good test to see if you like the cruising atmosphere. If you do, you'll be hooked. And hooked for life
Hope to see you on board.

Happy Cruising to all;
David

Davidwest - THANKS!

I'm not picky either - I agree - as long as the toliet flushes - I will be happy! (oh, and lots of food!!)

I believe we are going at the same time, so it should be fun. What area do you live around? We are from Birmingham, AL.

We live in a small town out side of Jackson, Mississippi, called Pearl, Mississippi. We're about 4 hours from Mobile.(depends on how many times I have to stop )
We're leaving that Thursday morning and driving down.I want to be at the port by noon.

Happy Sailing to all;

Default Holiday

We are cruising the Holiday on October 14th. I am so excited, I just don't know if I can wait that long.
I have never sailed on the Holiday, but have the Paradise and Inspiration. I believe that this is a comparable ship.
I hope that you enjoy your cruise.

Along with other cruiselines, we have sailed CCL's Fascination, Celebration and Holiday. Celebration and Holiday being CCL's oldest and smallest, and by far, in our opinion, CCL's best. The crews on both ships are fabulous, food and entertainment outstanding, ships are clean and I don't think you will be disappointed on the Holiday. We first sailed her 2 years ago and just booked a Christmas cruise on the Holiday departing Dec 23rd. They have all the amenities that the big ships have: pools, lounges/bars, entertainment/showroom, casino - just on a smaller scale. No, they do not have the rock-climbing wall, ice rink or other newer items that you see on the larger ships, but the lack of those items is more than made up by the exceptional service from the crew. Smaller crowds are also more to our liking. Yes, there have been reports of water leaks, toilets that do not flush and vibrations on the Holiday, but we have only noticed a vibration in parts of the ship, more so at night when the ship is sailing, and it did not ruin our cruise at all. Just heard, to, that the Holiday has been newly refurbished following her Katrina duty, so we are looking forward to seeing her. Should look just like a new ship since she looked great 2 years ago. Mobile is also a very easy port to get in/out of with a wonderful terminal and convenient parking. Enjoy your cruise, especially you first-timers!! In our opinion you made a good choice for your first ship.

We do business with a company in Mobile that sells heating and a/c supplies along with other supplies for manufactured homes (which is our business) and we were told recently by one of their sales reps that since Carnival has been so successful with their ship, the Holiday, sailing out of Mobile, that Carnival has been given first option to put in another ship that would sail out of the Mobile port and that if they do not, Royal Caribbean is expected to do so. This would expand the cruise choices greatly and that would be a wonderful thing! We are approximately 4 hours out of Mobile and would love to see more choices sailing out of Mobile.

My sister & I took our mother on a cruise on the Holiday. It is an older, smaller ship (unfortunately there was no beautiful atrium area that I could show them!0 but hey! any cruise is a good cruise! The staff was terrific, the entertainment great, and the food...oh the food! We had a great time, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Happy cruising!
