Default Best Airport To Port Transportation Option...

Hello All,

Considering a cruise in October on Carnival Glory and was wondering what you would suggest to be the best "Bang for the Buck" option for getting from Orlando to Port Canaveral. To give ourselves lots of time, we are considering staying at a hotel the night before the cruise and the night after the cruise, just to lessen the rushes to and from the airport. What do you suggest? Shuttle from airport straight to Port Canaveral, stay at a hotel there somewhere? Or stay at an airport hotel and travel to Port Canaveral?

Not really looking for the rock bottom deal here, but a good option for sensible transportation at a sensible price.

So many options!!
1. Fly into Orlando, stay at the Hyatt right there in the terminal. I have stayed at AmeriSuites, only .5 miles from the airport. Take their free shuttle to the hotel, sleep, enjoy a complimentary breakfast, take the shuttle back to the airport and catch the ship's shuttle on cruise day. Personally, I would only do this if my flight is coming in late.

2. Rent a car from Budget and drive to Port Canaveral, less than an hour. The next day, Budget's return is right outside from the port and they offer a free shuttle to the port.

We have also used the Cocoa Beach Shuttle and were happy with the service. You can find more at http://www.orlandoairports.net/goaa/main.htm under parking/transportation.

We have stayed at the Radisson, Comfort Inn and Hampton Inn. We prefer the Hampton Inn just a couple miles down from the port. Great views of the ocean from our 8th floor balcony, free breakfast, walkway to the beach, nice rooms. Most posters like the Radisson because it's closer to the port. We found it crowded with fellow cruisers, many for other ships. On cruise day it can be very unorganized in the lobby even with "scheduled free" shuttle runs. JMHO

Have a great time planning!
