Libragirl:
I almost forgot all about the Aloe Vera Gel!!

Here I thought I had a complete list.

Thank you for posting this thread. I just added it to my "Things to take list"

I just wanted to repeat how important that it is to bring

DOWNY WRINKLE RELEASER its the best thing since sliced bread.

I also packed way to much on our first cruise...so last cruise i brought 5 shirts (5 night cruise) 3 capri's (i dont do shorts), 1 slacks, 1 black jeans and 1 black capri for dinner, several dressy shirts and 2 dressy jackets.

I had just nuff clothes to feel great about it, but shared a suitcase with my son.

Also, this is embarrassing, but whatever, im a nurse lol, bring a LAXATIVE! ! There is too much food, and too much sun, so people tend to get a bit dehydrated (alcohol doesnt help either) so a good laxative could make the difference of a miserable day or 2 on board vs and a great trip I wont say how i know this, just that i do

One thing i wish i had packed was LENS CLEANER/CLOTH for my camera lens. It got smudged and i had no way to clean it safely. thankfully i met someone who let me me borrow thiers, but i have lots of blurry photos of the mayan ruins now

1. I didn't forget this, but I was so surprised that it is NOT available anywhere at all on the ship - gum. I chew sugarfree gum all day and had brought some but not quite enough. They sell gum on the ship no place at all - if you want gum, gotta bring it on.

2. I debated whether to bring on soda. It's so heavy. People had suggested I do (only like certain kind, didn't want to buy soda card for some that was not my favorite). But I didn't b/c of the weight. Big mistake. I literally never touched my luggage after I left the house. Could have easily brough it and let others manhandle it.

3. I actually didn't feel I brought enough clothes, oddly. I wish I had brought nice dress up clothes for each dinner time. After sun, water, heat, it is so nice to bathe and dress up for dinner.

4. Brought beach towels from home - big mistake, totally not needed.

Enough to read - can't go to bed without reading a bit of something. I brought on 3 magazines. One was taken when I left it on chaise lounge chair by pool, no big deal, sped thru 2 others quickly. I went to the onboard store looking for more, found one passable paperback. The library was closed so often, very disappointing.

I so agree with you. I don't know how I went on cruises without these lists

Everytime someone post anything on things not to forget or things to take with you on a cruise, I always view it.

I just love them

I agree with what others have said about bringing books on the ship. Most of the ships I have cruised on have small libraries with a limited amount of books. After I finish a paperback on the cruise, I donate to the ship's library. Others do this also, and it really helps.

On my last cruise I actually forgot the charger for the camcorder...and of course I did not charge it before we left. Also, take a insulated mug with a lid...the glasses/cups they have are not too big. Also, I make copies of our passports and carry them with us into port...just in case we were ever to miss the boat. I don't want to carry the real ones into port.

I bring a really good bar of soap. I don't like the gels the ships provide since gels tend to be drying.

I need bilateral knee replacements and use an anti inflammatory Rx. In the rush of getting out of the house on time I placed my meds in a small bag and set it off to the side of all the suitcases. Needless to say it got left behind by mistake. I was so miserable on that cruise without the meds because I can't walk much without them. On the cruise we have coming up in April I already placed a bottle in the empty suitcase so it never happens again and ruins my vacation or cruise by leaving the bottle behind.

Libra I didn't know you could donate your book you read on the cruise to the library. Do you just leave it on one of the tables in the room? I always buy new best selling books to read on the cruise and sometimes I ask the room steward do any of the crew read and sometimes they say yes and take them but sometimes not. This upcoming trip I will leave them in the library. Thanks for the info.

I just leave them in the library. If there is an attendant there, I tell him or her that I am donating the book to their library. They have a paperback section of books, also. Paperbacks are what I have been donating, but I'm sure they would take hardbacks, also.

I learned the hard way...pack a power outlet strip. With only one 110 volt plug in a room can get wild when you have 2 or more people trying to get ready for dinner or trying to charge multiple cell phones/i-pods at night. Also, a small travel clock that has a illuminated face is great if you are in an interior room.

If your in a inside cabin, bring a night light to plug into your extension cord. You can't plug it in any other way. I really liked it when I got back to my cabin and had a little light there.

I'm glad my list has helped everyone. I compiled a list of items based upon comments from several threads. It has been used a lot over the year or so it's been on this thread. I'll try to update it again and see if Kuki or Paul or SOMEBODY important will make it a sticky!

Make a list and keep it with other cruising items, so each time you cruise, you will have it.

I noticed that several items people forgot to take, then needed, are things that are available from the ship's infirmary. You do not have to pay for a doctor visit to get them. Some are free, others a token charge. So, remember that option if you need something.

I lost a pair on one cruise, and thankfully someone turned them in. (I am lost without my reading glasses.) You should not forget First Aid kit that should contain necessary things such as hand-gloves, respirator, Handsanitizer, safety goggles etc.

Wow. The ONE thing I never forget to pack hasn't been mentioned. I'm happy I can contribute after 5 pages!

SCISSORS! For those annoying sealed plastic packages, cutting off tags, general McGyvering of stuff. I use electricians scissors. They are just like regular scissors, but will cut anything, and they are smaller than regular scissors. You can buy them in the electrical dept of any OSH or Home Depot or Lowes for about $12 My husband relies on them, even tho he thought it was silly at first.

Favorite condiments. My husband loves sriracha hot sauce (red rooster asian). I bring him a small bottle.

I'm a red bull addict. I pack a case in my luggage, and another in his. Please- no lectures. I'm aware of how bad they are for you. I like red bull vodkas.

We travel a lot, and no matter...we always forget someones socks or underwear. I pack a cheap lightweight tote with all of our underwear and socks in it. No one gets left behind.

Pack everything you can't live without in a carry on. Someday, you may be grateful. Meds, makeup, jewelry, etc. I also take my laptop as carryon. I transfer all my digital files every day so it won't take me two years to sort our vacation photos.
And all of our travel docs go into the laptop bag. And I have a cloth zipper tool pouch that our passports, check book, travelers checks go into.

Vinegar is GREAT to take the burn out of a sunburn - a redhead knows! :-)
Also if you mix it with equal parts of honey and then put it in 6 - 8 ounces of water, it will relieve any vomiting or diarrhea issues in a natural way and fast!
