Default Conquest in New Orleans

Has anyone heard if the Conquest is going back to New Orleans in 2007. I thought we read it here on the boards....but not sure.

Carnival is taking reservations for Conquest [out of Galveston] through late 2007. What will happen after that....unknown. CCL keeps saying they are committed to N. Orleans. Whether that commitment includes Conquest/Liberty/Freedom is unknown

I'm betting on the Freedom and the city of New Orleans along with the state will provide some inducements for Carnival to place it here. We need the jobs and the economic impact plus it would be a great marketing and public relations gesture on the part of Carnival

There is a reason why Carnival has delayed announcing where the Freedom is going and whether they are coming back to New Orleans for 7 day cruises

I agree with Venice. The cruise director talked about bigger and better things for N.O. Althought he didn't say what ship would be there, he did say that the Conquest had found a new home. We look forward to one day saling out of N.O.

Carnival holds a special place in the hearts of thousands of first responders for providing a place to live and eat and shower everyday for the months that they pulled their 3 ships out of service

Say what you will ,Carnival was the only major cruise line to make that business decision and took alot of grief from thousands of their customers who had to be rescheduled due to that decision and despite the initial uproar about what FEMA paid for it, in hindsight, it was a win/win for all parties

Plus, the Conquest has found a home in Galveston where the community has responded warmly to another "New Orleans evacuee" and it would be a very wise business, political, and public relations gesture to leave it in Galveston. If you remember, Carnival debut the Conquest in New Orleans to much fanfare (and a few issues about power lines) and will get 3 times the publicity if and when it debuts the Freedom here. The state of Lousiana department of tourism is preparing a major national/international marketing campaign designed to bring tourist back to New Orleans and would it not be smart to have pictures of the Carnival Freedom as a center piece to this campaign. Carnival would get a return for it's dollar that no other cruise line can match
