Default First time cruiser - where are the car rental return sites?

We are going on our first cruise 9/25/06 on the Imagination out of the Port of Miami but flying in to Ft. Lauderdale airport the day prior to sailing. There will be 4 adults and lots of luggage so we thought it best to rent a car. We plan to stay at the Holiday Inn at the Port of Miami. Does anyone know which car rental companies we could rent from that would let us return the car close to the port and shuttle us back to the port? Are there any car rental places actually at the port? Help! Not sure what to do! Thanks to all for this very informative site!

I'm going to guess that your only renting the car over night. Call the car rental or go online to their website. They should be able to tell you the exact locations of where you can drop off your rental. You'll need to get a cab. I haven't heard about there being car rental places right there at port. Maybe someone else knows that answer.

Life is too short to let the ship of your dreams sail without you.

I don't think there are any sites at the Fort Lauderdale port because the airport is so close to the port. I did the reverse and got a rental after my cruise. There are courtesy buses that go from the cruise port to the airport.
