I have been thinking about going on a cruise in January called the Pet Pro Cruise. The company hosting the cruise has posted to call a certain cruise company and the name of the TA to ask for.
I have been trying to get this person by phone for a week now. I called and tried to talk to another TA, but she said I would have to talk to the other one and would send her an e-mail requesting that she call me. That was 2 days ago.
After all this I'm not sure I want to book through them. My question is can I use my own TA or am I stuck using this one?
To get the group price you'll have to book through the TA who's offering the cruise.
I'd also be a little concerned that you can't get her to call you back.
It could be that's she's very busy and will get back to you soon, but we have a TA who answers my emails less than an hour after I send them!
It is relatively early for a January cruise, so maybe she's just busy with people who are cruising sooner. IMO, I'd give her another week and then contact the company who is hosting the cruise and tell them of your problem with the TA.

My family booked through a travel agent for an October cruise. I didn't book at the same time with them.
Two months later, I decided that I wanted to go. I called Carnival direct and talked to Jean Michaud 800-819-3902. He gave me a rate $20 less than the rate that my family was paying booking through the TA with a group rate.
Then he asked me if my family got the senior discount through the TA. I called the TA and she said that they could not get the group discount and the senior discount.
I just booked my Dad as a roommate in my room and got a senior discount. It saved $60 per person per room.
Believe me - I would check all avenues before I went directly with a TA. But do beware. Sometimes when a TA books for the group, it is the only way that you can participate in the group activities. I have heard that Singles Cruises are booked through TA. Those who book on their own do not get to participate in the Singles Activities that were planned.
