Default First cruise-help with choosing a room/Carnival Imagination

This is out first cruise and we want some help on choosing a good room. We want a ocean view room but don't really know which ones are good. Can anyone give some help?

Also if anyone else is going on the 7 September cruise let us know.

We sailed on Imagination's sister ship Ecstasy and had an oceanview room that was GREAT! Choose something midship...we had R143 which was a nice central location, nice smooth ride, close to middle elevators but not noisy at all. The only improvement would be to get higher up - unless the motion would bother you. The higher your deck the more you feel the movement of the boat. We noticed the movement in our friends/family cabins on the Empress deck and in the dining room but it did not bother us so we would go higher if upgraded. We probably wouldn't pay more to get a higher deck though, since the Riviera was just fine. We had absolutely no complaints about our cabin

Another thing to keep in mind is to not get a cabin right below the galley or lounge due to possible noise nuisance. I think being below the dining rooms and shops would be okay. And sometimes too close to an elevator can be noisy from what I've heard, but not the case with our cabin. A few other posters have said that the noise from elevator areas is blocked well and shouldn't be a problem on any Carnival ship.

I hope this helps and I WISH I was sailing on or near the 7th, but must wait until next September Have an awesome cruise

We have sailed on Carnival Fantasy Class ships 4 times with rooms
on 4 different decks. The best deck (in our opinion) is the Riveria
midship. We have found this location to have the least movement
and the quietest. Also, it is one of the least expensive oceanview
catagories. You can book a Riveria deck guarantee oceanview.
This means you will be assigned a cabin at embarkation. It will
be an oceanview, but the location is left up to the cruiseline. We
got stuck in the back of the ship once after an upgrade. The noise
and vibration was awful. If you want to pick a certain cabin then
do not book a guarantee. We have been upgraded booking a
guarantee, booking a certain cabin, booking directly with Carnival,
and booking with an internet cruising company. Some upgrades have
been great, some not so great. Just one last thought....the Riveria
deck requires more stairs or more elevator time, but it is the closest
deck when you get off at port! Have a great cruise.
Happy Sailing.............

I had an interior on the Empress Deck in early May and loved it (E220). It was very quiet but near the elevators and a short stroll to the photo hall. An awesome steward Janthal made my trip go smoothly but I hope he's received a promotion since my cruise!!! The room was

Carnival Fantasy 9/30/06
Carnival Inspiration 5/3/07
Carnival Triumph 10/13/07
