Default Booking through a TA vs. an agent with CCL

Where do you typically find the better deals? I have booked with an agent at CCL and wonder if I should have checked with some TAs first. I have read that CCL will give the credit if the fares drop, but how do you find out if there has been a drop? Thanks for your input.

I always recommend a good cruise travel agent, they should get you the best price, and you have the added customer service that they provide. Plus, its one person to call, in case of changes or problems. Feel free to e-mail me if you need a name of a good one.

Thanks. I have always used a TA in the past and just wonder if I am getting the best deal, regardless of who I book with.

Hi ready2gonow,

I agree with Donna. A good Cruise Specialist is the best way to go. We have a great TA and while she says she will check prices, I know there's no way she could check as often as I can!

I'm admittedly obsessive about checking the prices ! For our next cruise the price went down twice on the Princess website. You have to go through the booking process until you get to the final price. I'm guessing it would work the same with Carnival. I emailed my TA and she got us the better price. (Now the prices are up again :o .)

It's wonderful to have someone to run interference for you if you need help.

If you decide to use a TA you can transfer your booking from Carnival to your TA. If you'd like a recommendation, email me !

Have a wonderful cruise!

The only disadvantage that I can think of with booking through a TA rather than Carnival is:

I believe they will charge you a cancelation fee, as with Carnival, you can cancel up to 61 days before with no penalty.

At least this is the case with on line travel sites.

A good TA will usually be able to meet or beat the web prices. A good TA will find perks that are not available on the web. I know my TA personally, i know that i can call her if i have any questions or concerns. Its nice being able to put a face to a name.

Only trouble with checking the prices at the Carnival site is if the category that you've booked in is sold out, there's no way you can see the prices anymore to compare.

We've booked on the Miracle in a cat 11 and for our sailing, there's no more cat 11's available. Best I can see is a balcony and I don't remember what THAT price was originally in order to compare.

I book through a TA twice then receiently through Carnival. The TA was suppose to be a friend of my SIL so would get us a good deal. Well her prices were no better than the prices on the web site.

I booked through Carnival and was assigned a personal agent who arraigned for a 2 class upgrade and let us pick a cabin at the price of the guarantee. We saw the price go down (using the same method as the previous email about the Princess web site). We emailed our personal agent and was given the lower price AND she upgraded us to the Panarama deck.

I will likely book directly through Carnival from now on.
