It is attained through cruising ten times with Carnival. The perks are I believe, priority embarkation and disembarkation, complimentary laundry service, guarenteed supper club and dining room reservations. A carnival logo item, personalized stationary, and petit fours and canapes delivered to your stateroom one evening.

You also get VIP when you book a suite. It was worth it IMO.

Carnival has their VIP perks listed on their web site if you want to take a look. The priority embarkation and debarkation are great.

Unless they changed it since last September, the perks are only for Platinum guests. My parents booked a suite and got only the VIP check-in (not disembarkation), but I, being Platinum and in an inside cabin, got all the perks listed above plus some...

Have they extended it to suite guests also?

You are right Jodi. We were on the Legend last month, and only Platinum members, (which we are), received the perks up and beyond VIP check-in.

So, you can get VIP by booking a suite? Is it only for that specific cruise? What is Platinum? Is that what you get for the 10+ cruises??

All suite passengers (Cat. 11 or 12), are entitled to VIP check-in. Platinum benefits are for those on thier 10th Carnival cruise and beyond regardless of cabin catagory booked.

What about a gold card? Does that give you any special perks?

the gold card basically only gets you a past guest cocktail party. Platinum holds all the perks. We will be sailing on number 5, on thge liberty this november. we are creeping up on platinum but way too slow to get there. we take about two trips per year. Does the trips only count for a five day or longer trip? If it is say a 3 day trip does that count toward platinum?

Any cruise (including the one-day cruise to nowhere) counts as one. Even a back to back counts as two.... even if one is the 4 day and the other one is the 3 day....

I am a Platinum Card Member and it was really very nice. Besides the VIP treatment upon arrival at the Port, the free laundry service, and the other little perks, i.e., fruit baskets, wine, personalized stationary, key chains, teeshirt, and a really nice Carnival Tote Bag we really enjoyed the priority use of the tenders in Cozumel. All we had to do was go to the Pursers Desk (where they have a separate line for us) and a staff member personally escorted us past all the passengers to the next tender.... Now that was nice!!!

Also, if you're not a Platinum Card Member, but travelling with one, you can "tag" along with them... I travelled with 9 people, of which 6 of us (including my 12 & 16 year old daughters) are Platinum but the others were able to come along... They loved it!!!

So, my suggestion, if you can.... take as many 3, 4 or 5 night cruises as you can to get to the Platinum Status....definitely worth it....

I think I posted this before but will repeat it again regarding VIP status based on staying in a suite. The only advantage I believe we received was priority boarding. Our friends who traveled with us were regular passengers. As a test I took the VIP boarding route and he did the regular. In the end at the gangway he was 4 people behind me in line to board. So, I think the only way to really get the VIP treatment is to do it Elaines way and take a million cruises which is not such a bad idea!

That helps alot. I will definitely take a couple of these weekend trip cruise to no where to get my platinum status. We sail a couple of times a year and it would be great to have Platinum status. Thank you again.

Default Does VIP count only carnival? What about Princess?

While we have sailed only Carnival, just wondering for the future if Princess is a sister cruiseline, does a trip on there count?

Nope,,,even though they are the same company, they can't be combined and don't recoginize each others status. The only good part of all this, is that "Platinum" on Princess only takes 5 cruises, and not the 10 that are required on Carnival.

If V.I.P. stands for Vacation Interchange Privileges, then cruises on Princess (and others) will count.

There is a petition going around on the Internet trying to get Carnival to accept all the cruise lines that Carnival owns. You might run into one day.

Rescue, I understand that VIP treatment also depends on the port. Some treat you better than others.

Default VIP is FUN

I will say VIP status is a great thing I Have it and love it. I love to see that long line than just be able to walk to the front when Boarding the boat on the First day. Than if you need to Go to the pursers desk you have your own little window.

I WILL SAY the only problem I have run into is when I go to one of the Lines I get told this is VIP only And I laugh and say What do I look like Chopped liver as I show my Plantium Card.

My one Friend Finished his status by doing several one day cruises Great idea

Yep...you get your Platinum card ON your 10th cruise. When you book your 10th cruise, your documents will say (on the front page ) "please proceed to the VIP Check In".

It is only Carnival cruises that count...but all cruises count (even cruises to nowhere).

I started campaigning about 6 months ago for Carnival to add an Elite (Black) card at 25 cruises with Carnival that would include a dinner for 2 in the supper club (if the ship has one) and reciprocating perks on all sister cruise lines. For instance, if you were an Elite member on Carnival and you went on a Princess cruise (even your first one)....you would get all the perks that the highest Princess cruiser would get. I have written to "Uncle Bob" and included it on all our comment cards since the program started. I have "encouraged' others to do so as well. We are not quite to 25 yet (number 24 is coming up in December) ...but it is close.

I have used the free wash and fold several times and love it.
I don't gamble but have used the free slots a couple of times, since even I can sit there and hit a button. I have never won (which is why I don't gamble).
The Logo item is always nice. They used to give us 4 but wised up and now only give 1 per cabin...instead of 1 per Platinum member...which makes more sense.

I especially liked the VIP Check In and Debarkation in Tampa this month. It was a breeze. We were eating pizza before we knew it!! And we were off the ship and to the airport in record time with the debarkation.

And with both our boys being Platinum, they will get the perks for life~!~!

Default thanks for all info

Thanks for all the info, amazing how one can find answers faster here than Carnival's website.
I too wish "sister" cruiselines would count. Haven't sailed any yet, but would try if they'd count.
