Ship excursion for Costa Maya

Has anyone done any ship excursions for the Costa Maya port?? Any info would be appreciated fellow cruisers.

We took the ship's excursion to Uvero Beach and I wasn't really impressed. I had a better time going to the beach at Majahual (sp) by ourselves (and it was a lot cheaper).

In Costa Maya, we took a taxi to Majahual and hated it, turned around and went right back to the ship. Costa Maya is my second least favorite stop, Belize being the worst.

we did the kohunlich tour and it was pretty interesting. my only advice is to use the washroom at the pier before you get on the bus. the ride is a little over 2 hours one way and although there's a bathroom on the bus, it's about half the size of an airplane bathroom.

We booked a tour to the Ruins of Chacchoben with a private tour company. The leader (Ivan) is a native Mayan and grew up on the site. We highly recommend them; I listed the link to their web site below. I even learned a little Mayan on the way to the site from Ivan. "Milo" means thank you.

we went on the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins tour nice way to see the area and the ruins were quite fasinating

I agree. We went to Mahual and we spent 1 hour there and went back to the ship. It was dirty and very expensive. No one was nice. It was my least favorite stop with Roatan being my WORST!
