My advice is to go to Galveston.com They have a list of motels and reviews. They also have a place you can check when you do your reservation, to say you want to park for free.
Best advice? Book early. Galveston is a small island, and if there is something going on, they book up fast.
I agree with Luanne, but I'd also suggest that you go to the hotel's website rather than booking through Galveston.com. There can be some changes that aren't noted on Galveston.com (cruise parking, non-smoking, shuttles, etc.).
Have a wonderful cruise!

This year we are opting for the HoJo Express. Only $59 and they have good reviews. Nothing fancy but they do let you park for the week as well as having a Continental breakfast.
I have stayed at quite a few now, but I think this time, I want to stay at the pier. I have always enjoyed people saying how great it was to wake up with the ship outside the room.
We usually stay at the Beach Best Western only a block from a Super Walmart where you can stock up on sodas and about 8 minutes taxi from the dock. They let us park free for the cruise.
We've stayed there to Paul, but the last time, it had run down bad. Out of two rooms, we only had one working light bulb. Called down to report it, and they said it would be tomorrow.
It was part of our package, so not something we arranged ourselves, but when we sailed out of Galveston we stayed at a beautiful place. I'm pretty sure it was a Wyndham....the Galvez, I think it was. I'm sure it isn't cheap, but if you can spring for it, it was one of the nicer places we've stayed at before a cruise.
