Default Beach Towels...

I've read that you can "borrow" the towels from your stator room if you're going on an excursion, just bring them back to the ship or they will charge you.

Can anyone verify this? They likely keep tabs on all this stuff and what I would be worried about is that they make up your room while you're on an excursion, so the towels would be missing, they would then charge you. But the next day there would be extra towels in the room as they likley replaced the ones you took from the day before. So would they realize that then and take those charges back?

Anyone have any experiences with this? We originally thought about taking our own beach towels, but anything that saves space in luggage is good.

Thanx,
Krunch

They do put beach towels in each cabin and yes they do keep track of them. When you get back from your excursion, leave it where the room steward can find them.

We thought about it too, but I figure the less I take, the more I can bring back. We will likley be going with suitcases packed inside suitcases for the souvineers, etc. If we took towels, we were just gonna take el cheapos from Walmart and if we ran out of space in our luggage, just throw them out. But now I don't need to worry about it, I'll just take the ones from the ship and return them.

Thanx,
Krunch

Just to clarify for you, you don't have to worry about "borrowing" them or sneaking them off the ship, that is what they are put there for, as well as for pool use. These are different than the bath towels in your bathroom. They are blue and say Carnival on them. They won't put any charges on your card for towels until the end of the cruise, just make sure you leave as many towels as passengers when you leave the ship. The cabin stewards would not expect your beach towels to be in there during the day when they are cleaning your cabin, they would assume you were using them. I had read on these boards before we sailed Carnival that the towels were too thick and bulky to carry on excursions and that some people preferred to bring their own inexpensive thin towels. But I did not want to pack a bunch of towels. I found the towels to be nice but not too bulky, and were not a problem to carry on our beach excursions. We had several plastic grocery bags from pre-cruise shopping, so just put a couple of towels in each bag, which was nice after the beach when they were wet, made is easy to carry them without getting our other stuff wet. Enjoy your first cruise!

You clarified correctly

I figured you could take towels around the ship to the pool, etc, but wasn't sure about taking them off the ship, so I'm glad you clarified that for me. WRT taking stuff on excursions, GF and I BOTH bought backpacks to put everything in for shore excursions, etc. That way we can have everything like our ID, credit cards, etc in our backpacks. On light days, we'll only take one backpack. Likley should consider wearing it securely I guess to make it difficult for some dishonest person to snatch it and run away with it.

on our last cruise, we used the towels daily with no problem. after we got home, we received a charge for two towels. this was a week after we debarked and settled our account. i did call carnival up and they said they
would have to investigate the charge. after a few days, the charge was
taken off.

Yeah, I guess that's a worse case scenerio I guess. If that happened where I was charged wrongly, I could call up the credit card company as well I guess if I had no success with the cruise line directly. Bottom line, not worth worrying about now, figure it out latter if it happenes I guess.

I followed everyones advice and took our own towles and never needed them. All they did was take up space. If your beach towel gets wet the stewart brings you a clean one every evening at turn down service. We lost one of ours up on the deck the last day at sea and they didn't care.

I've been on almost all of the Carnival ships. There have been towel attendants handing out the large blue towels on deck, to be used there. You give them back as you leave the deck.

The big towels in the cabin are for your use on shore. Yes, you will be charged $22 if you lose a towel. Just watch it carefully if you're on a beach, because they could be stolen. No matter, it's still your responsibility to return them to your cabin. I've always seen a little sign on the beach towels in the cabin that they are for taking ashore, and to not take the regular bath towels.

To eliminate any problem, I take my own thin beach towels. You can take inexpensive ones, which are thin, and take up very little luggage space. If they should be lost or stolen, no biggie.
