travelguard and insuremytrip.com???
OK...still looking for insurance. I am insurance illerate! I understand the fact of now not buying insurance from Carnival (as I have always done in the past and yes, did have to go through red tape on one delay and got nothing) so I looked at Travel guard. They have several different options. What is the most common? The prices with travelguard are much better but 1/2 the coverage as what carnival had offered. What option does everyone go through? My next cruise - to panama canal which includes a plane flight, I purchased the insurance with carnival not knowing any better at the time of booking. I can't cancel now as it is to late (I think they only give you 10 days to cancel). But, the cruise after that - on the Fantasy out of N.O. involves no flight - but only a 2 hour drive - and my main concern is cancellation due to hurricane. If a hurricane is coming my way I'd have to cancel due to my obligations with work. I guess my question is - what plan do you go with out of the 4 offered with Travelguard?? Thanks!

If you go to insuremytrip.com they will give you many options, one of which is travelguard. The website is pretty well done so that you can compare different policies.

I went through insuremytrip. Ended up getting Travelex, the plan is called Travelite. It was 95.00 for 2 people for a 5 night cruise. I don't know anything about insurance and a lot of the wording is gobbley gook to me. But, it seemed to be decent coverage. It was a lot cheaper than the cruise line. I hope I don't need it, but have it in case I do.

cherylroy,
I also purchased a policy from insuremytrip.com for a May cruise out of San Juan. The plan I purchased is a TravelSafe which has a 75% repay upon cancel (that is 75% of the unrefundable fare) for any reason. Its about 3/5ths of the Carnival plan with insurance, evacuation, ect..... Hope this helps, btw, I haven't ever had to use the plan so I can't tell you if a ton of work is involved or not. I just hope I don't have to find out :D |
