Default New To Carnival

My grand children are traveling with us this time and I am concerned with the safety of them getting close to the rails on the ship. They are 4, 5, and 6. Very active and exciteable. Are all ships made about the same, in relation to the height of the rails on deck?

Hi Cruise-N-Arky *waves*

All railing on the ships are about 4 ft high. You can't fall and roll off the side. They are blocked on the bottom at least a two feet. I can send you a pictures if you want. If you have a balcony room, they are solid all the way up, thick glass. I have pictures of both if you would like to see. Just make sure the kids do not climb on them or stand on something not stable next to the railings and they will be just fine.

The only time people "accidentally" fall overboard is when they are drunk and doing something stupid or they jump.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

Dina - That's not true of the older ships. Holiday and Celebration have 'open railing' on the side decks of the ships. Would be easy for a child to slip on a wet deck and slide right under...

Arky - Since you won't be on either ship, you should have nothing to worry about unless your little ones are really into climbing. Just watch them carefully, as I'm sure you will do. Have fun with the grandkids.

I did find this for the Holiday.

It looks like they put extra railings from the deck up to the first rail so you can't roll off. Nice touch.

Default Railing

Although there is always the danger of a child climbing on the rail and falling off the ship. I haven't seen the ships with the glass on the exterior railing. I would keep an eye on all of the children.

What ship are you sailing on?
