Default How much water or soft drinks are allowed?

I like having a diet soft drink at my bedside when I go to sleep. Can I take soft drinks and/or bottled water on board? How much is allowed if this is possible?

I took a dozen of each last year on the trimuph, no problem. Plus you can bring more on when in port

I believe they say "a reasonable amount" of soft drinks may be brought on board. Any amount of water is ok. However, I take only one bottle of water on board and refill it from the ship's water dispensers on Lido Deck - which is quite good.

you can call room service and have it delivered to your stateroom.
The cruise lines let you bring aboard a "reasonable" amount of soda, as long as its not a Coke product.
No need to bring water, the ships water from the tap is very good. Probably better than the bottled water you would buy and bring aboard.

I saw a family carry on 3 cases of soda with 24 cans in each case. No one said a word to them. I know the ships sell Coke products, but I wouldn't think they would stop you from bringing your own on.

As for the water, the previous posters are correct. The ships have a purification plant on board and the water they create is as good as any bottled water. You can't tell the difference it someone handed you a glass of your favorite bottled water and a glass of the ships water.

I did notice on my last cruise a small sign posted next to the water dispenser on the lido deck that said "Please do not refill water bottles from this dispenser."

It made sense - people drinking out of their bottles and then shoving them under the dispenser - passing along their germs, but was a little surprising, nonetheless.

h-e-a-t-h-e-r - the cruise lines sell Coke products on board and they don't want you to cut into their revenue

Just returned from a 7 day cruise. We checked coke products and cases of H20 at the curb with the porters. Just put luggage tags on the cases with our cabin number and it arrived with our luggage. NO PROBLEM. Much cheaper than buying it on board.

I guess that I just don't get it.

When I am spending several thousands of dollars on a cruise, I sure don't want to be carrying cases of Coke and water with me.

What's an extra $50 or so just to buy it on the ship?

We took soda and water on our first cruise, because the people on the boards said so. Never again. I do take a couple bottles of water and do the refill thing, but I don't want to have more to carry than I have to.

ditto Luanne & Irish Shark, get the soda card, drink the water from the tap. We do bring aboard a sports bottle each to refill and chill from the tap in our stateroom. Also, if i am up on deck and i want a soda, all i really want to do is get a servers attention, give her/him my soda card and be done with it. I really don't want to get up and go all the way back to my stateroom to get a soda.

I didn't carry either as well. I don't drink that much pop. If I wanted a "mixer", I picked up a large pop when I was in port and carried it back on board.

The only reason I carry my own Diet Coke onboard is that I like the small bottles with the resealable caps and I need a DC in the AM, ASAP (just like some people (DH!) have to have coffee!)

Since we're flying next time I may just buy the cans onboard and not worry about wasting half a can!

I also agree with everyone else about the water. There's no reason to bring bottled water onboard. The ship's water is as good or better than any water you can buy.

Lisa... Don't worry. I've been on over a dozen Carnival cruises, and I always take my Cokes and Sprites. I wonder where some of these people get those crazy ideas?! You can bring your Cokes on board at embarkation, as well as more from the ports you visit. NO problem at all.

Default H2O and soda

I bring my own water since I always buy the soda card. I don't drink alcohol so it is worth it to me for the soda card and bottled water is not included on that. I My sister and I bring a small duffle of water with us when we board. We drink a lot of water (especially on shore days) and when the bag is empty it makes a great space to bring home souveniers!

To go back to the original posters question. Yes, you can take soda with you. When we took soda, we had a case of water and soda. Nothing was ever said to us.

It is true that Carnival has a coke contract, but I can't imagine someone saying anything if you took coke products. Want to make people's mouths water. Take a Dr.Pepper, or other soda not offered by Carnival.

Default New soda question!

What brands/flavors do they carry? I am a diabetic and I cannot do diet pop with aspartame as I have a bad reaction with it. I have to do splenda sweetened soda. I do not imagine they carry splenda sweetened pop so I am thinking I need to bring some so I do not have to do completely without pop. I drink pop sometimes to settle my tummy.

I can drink diet 7-up - Pepsi one and the diet RC brands and diet Hansen drinks and diet Big Red so I think I am out of luck on the cruise providing it.

I will bring a small funnel to replenish my 2 water bottles I will bring so I can fill from a glass and funnel it into my water bottle so as to not violate the Lido rule.

So I am glad we can bring pop or else it would make my vacation less fun.

Thanks for all the wonderful feedback!

Just about all the coke products. Diet Coke, etc. They do have sweetner on the tables, in most areas. You will not find any Pepsi products for sale on the ships. Strictly a coke product cruise.

I have taken a 12 pack of Walmart soda and a 12 pack of Coke (and later C2) on every cruise I have done on. They do check to make sure it is soda and not beer.....but that's it.

We will be sailing on the Miracle in 2 weeks and again I will carry on my 12 pack of Walmart soda and my 12 pack of Coke C2.
