I know I shouldn't feel bad but I do. Me and the hubby will be cruising for our 20th wedding anniversary and I feel bad about leaving our 16 year old with friends. Does any one else ever feel bad about not taking the kids?

I have not left mine yet. They enjoy it as much as we do, if not more. It has become such a family thing now, that I don't look forward to the day, that they don't go.

Well, as much as I enjoy cruising with my teen, I didn't feel AT ALL guilty when I took my 29 yo stepson on my last cruise. It was fun cruising with just the 2 of us!

We took our 1st cruise last year and left our 14 yr old daughter home, however we did take her to Florida the year before, (Disney, Universal studios), so felt no guilt at all. We offered to take her this year, but she doesn’t want to come because she wasn't able to take her friend her. That was her last chance, buying a new motorcycle in the spring, so won’t be able to afford a cruise for a while

Boy I sure wish I could take mine! She's in college and on her own. She is the baby of 8 so we can't afford to take all of our kids, their spouses and our 15 grandkids but it would sure be nice to have them all together and not be stuck in the kitchen!

Boy what a mix of yes and no's. I still don't know. One of her big things is she wanted to bring a friend, but none of there parents are will to let them miss school or have the money. She is afraid there won't be any other teens on board.

I rotate --- take the kids on a cruise, then leave the kids with grandma for a get away cruise the next time....

There are always other teens / kids on every cruise.

Well me and hubby have thought it thru and were going to take her. We were thinking she's 16 a junior and how many more times will she want to be with us! Plus how much will she really be with us?

Pesque - 16 is a great age to cruise! she will have a blast. Make sure that she signs up in the teen center. There will be plenty of teens aboard for her to hang out with.

I think she will have a blast! My biggest ting was the week of school she will miss. But she is a good student. When we crusied in 2003 she met some really nice girls from Ohio that she still keeps in touch with. So can you tell me anything about this Teen Club?

If you do a search on this site, you will find that Dan, the former teen host, did several articles about the various teen clubs on ships.

My son cruised 3 times with Carnival and really, really loved the teen club the last time on the Miracle.

Hi Pegsue,

This is from Carnival's website:

Quote:
15 - 17 year olds have a place all their own as well, it's called Club 0 2. This program, like Camp Carnival, was created for these older teens it was designed and dedicated to our guests in the specific age groups. The older teens get a chance to show off during a Karaoke session, pool parties, late night dances, outdoor sporting events like basketball and ping pong.

Many of our ships feature lounges which are dedicated to both age groups. Some of these lounges feature video monitors with Playstation 2 or X-Boxes, as well as comfortable seating. High energy dance floors with state of the art lighting and sound have also become a mainstay in many of our "Teen Only" lounges.

Due to these programs onboard, it is Carnival's policy to restrict anyone under the age of 18 years old into the main disco after 11 PM. Casino guests must be 18 years of age to play the tables and the slot machines. Guests under the age of 18 are not permitted in the casino. Guests under the age of 16 are not permitted in the spa and gym. Guests between the ages of 16 and 18 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Teen_Program.aspx

I think your DD will have a great time! Makes me wish I was 16 again!

Pegsue when I saw the date you were going I was going to tell you to tell her not to despair cause my 17 yr. old son will be on that cruise. BUT I realized that the 11/07 part was right but we're going 3/11/07 not 5/11/07. I can't imagine though that with over 2500 people that there won't be any teens for her. That's what I told my son.

As for take or not, we are taking ds because he asked us to take him somewhere this year. We've gone the last two March breaks kidless so when he asked we figured.....WOW!! Let's do it.

But with that said, we've also got another booked in July where he won't be coming with us. Going to celebrate our 25th and we'll do it alone, thanks.

But I never feel guilty. Just decide yes or no and then go from there. You've chosen yes, and that's just fine. Would have been fine the other way too. Family time IS important but so is couple time.

Kim
