Default Can you get a discount on a cabin upgrade day of sailing?

The upgrade fairy did not bless me in my guarentee cabin, though I hoped she would. I was wondering on the day of sailing are higher catagory cabins offered at full price or a discount
Im in an outside and was wondering about an obstructed balcony or regular balcony. If not I can live with a window no problem.

IMO, it isn't likely you'll be able to upgrade at the terminal. Everything including your sail-n-sign has already been made with your cabin assignment. Usually upgrades are within your booking category. So if you wanted a balcony, you'd should have booked a Cat 8 guarantee rather than a Cat 6 guarantee. If your on a Fantasy class ship, I'd guess no chance at all since they have very few balcony cabins compared to newer/larger ships. Everything depends to what capacity the ship is filled. I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless of your cabin assignment.

You can ask and you should give it a try: But your chances of it happening are usually not very good. As Cleveland said, everything has been set up at check in and their primary concern is getting people on the ship.

Usually there is a sign that says the ship is full and in most instances it is.

However I would check again once you are onboard or ask, at check in, if there is a pier coordinator or supervisor. (I'm not sure if Carnival has this. NCL and Royal Caribbean do.)
