Default Shore Excursions - What I've booked so far..

Okay for my Carnival Destiny cruise in Dec/Jan this is what I have booked for shore excursions so far....What do you think?

St Thomas - On our own. We are going to take a cab to the Sky Tram, shopping and then in the afternoon take a cab to a beach -- any suggestions on great beaches?

Dominica - Rainforest and Emerald Pool Tour

Barbados - 4 x 4 Safari and Ship Wreck Snorkeling

Aruba - We can't book yet ..

Can you tell I just cannot wait???

If I remember correctly, you can just walk to the skytram. Maybe 3 or 4 blocks at the most.

In the morning, we took a cab in St. Thomas to Coki beach then spent the afternoon by the ship at the market and on the sky tram. Its right across the street from the shops.

In Aruba, we took a cab to Moomba Beach and caught the Jolly Pirates cruise/snorkle trip. It was fantastic. If your into that sort of thing. Since your there late, you'll have plenty of time to get back get cleaned up and do the town.

jbixby - you may want to re-think your time table in St. Thomas. I would suggest that you go to the beach in the morning, before it gets really, really hot and really crowded, then go back to the ship, drop off your beach gear, maybe take a quick shower to get off the salt, have a bite to eat, walk over to the Paradise Point Tramway, and then shop at Havensight Mall on your way back.
Sapphire Beach is very nice. Meagan's Bay Beach is gorgeous but there is no snorkeling there, and its a bit of a tourist trap.

Thanks! My dh just said the same thing to me...so maybe that is what we will do, and that way we are not so rushed to get back to the ship from the beach!

When we went to St. Thomas we went to Sapphire Beach and it was beautiful and very uncrowded. We went there first. That is the only time I have been there, so I don't have anything to compare it to. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Afterward we went into town and shopped for a while before heading back to the ship. Have fun! 8)

In St. Thomas, the tram is only across the street if you dock at the Havensight dock. If its full, you dock south of town and it's a fairly long ride thru town over to the other dock.

Apparently the largest ships that day get Havensight (it holds 3 of them) and any overflow has to park at the other dock.

We did the Dominica rainforest and Emerald pool excusion. It is a beautiful trip. Be prepared for some hiking/walking along some pretty manicured walking trails. There are some tricky spots, and hopefully you'll get an experienced and helpful guide to get you through them. It is a really nice change of pace from the other excursions we had been on. Dominica doesn't really have any beaches, and it's a really poor island, but the breathtaking beauty of the rainforest makes this island worth visiting. Watch out fot the "school bus" when your heading up the mountain. It's a very interesting tourist attraction! Have fun!

Thank you everyone for the info (and for the coupons). I've printed this off as well and it sounds like St. Thomas will be a great day. I knew I wanted to go to Sapphire Beach but this makes the whole day a lot more fun.
