Hello! My name is Lisa. My dh and I are going on our 1st cruise (with some neighbors-their 1st cruise, also) next July on the Glory to the Eastern Caribbean. We are really looking forward to it. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions you have. Our ports are Nassau, St. Thomas (considering an excursion to St. John), and St Maarten. I look forward to your replies and getting to know you all!

Lisa

Welcome Lisa,
You will love the Glory, and as your excursions St. Thomas, You have never been there before, I would stick to ST not SJ. You will get hooked on cruising and will most likely go to ST alot. Then you go to SJ. But both islands are beautiful, more to do and see on ST. Enjoy whatever you do. Just have fun!

1sttimecruiser ,
Glad you found your way here. If you have questions, just ask away. this is the only place I know, that you can talk about cruising everyday, and nobody tells you to change the subject

You meantion going to St. John, St. John is a beautiful Island with Beautiful beaches . Kinda reminds me of a resort area It really will depend on what you want to do there in port. .

If your into Shopping, St. Thomas is your place. I found that your best prices, are usually in the downtown area. Just take a cab. There very plentiful.
Also, while your in St. Thomas, do the sky ride. It right there next to the ship.
If your into Beaches- ,Magens Bay in St. Thomas is very beautiful and clean.Has a little snack shop there, to get refreshments, when needed. But it also can get real crowed, when theres 2 or 3 ships in port with you.

Both Islands are great. Theres no wrong choice here. You'll see, that the postcards and pictures you've seen really don't do the Islands justice.

Happy Sailing;
David

(considering an excursion to St. John),

If that's the snorkeling trip to trunk Bay, I'll let you know when we get back. We leave Dec. 9th and have already booked that excursion. BTW, we've sailed Glory before, it will blow you away!

Welcome

I cruised on Glory last year, Western itinary and absolutely loved the ship. I'd actually like the itinary you are doing a bit better, you'll love the ship and the ports.

In St. Maarten, we took the duck tour. Fun, kinda hokey. But I hear the real tour to take is the Americas Cup sailboat racing. You help crew a real America's Cup yacht and it should be a blast for active people. I plan on taking it the next time I'm there.

Hello Lisa! I'm new at this also. I'll be taking my first cruise on the Inspiration (11/06/06-11/11/2006). When I get a cruise under my belt maybe I can start giving advice.. But it's great to chat.
