Did you know that Cruisemates has a roll call? They call it meet on Board. You can get to it, buy going to the top of the screen and clicking on. Your cruise might already be there, or you can start your own. It's a lot of fun to get to know someone, before boarding.
luanne, I've triewd to do this on our last two cruises. had about 8 or 10 people that were supposed to meet and we never got together. finally met one other couple about the third day of the cruise last year on the liberty and it was nice to put a face and body to a name. we're cruising on the glory in 3 weeks and have a group of 10 from past cruises going
so I know for sure that this is one group that will meet on board. anybody
else sailing on the glory nov.11,2006 are welcome to join us. we're meeting at the casino bar after the muster drill. COME ON AND JOIN US
Luanne, I posted my February cruise in Pride. I am beginning to think we will be the only passengers on the ship.
Laura

I've also posted for our last cruise and for our next cruise. Except for someone who's also "over there" on the other website I've had NO replies . I really don't understand why the people on CM's don't post in the "Meet Onboard" board? I'm just talking to myself !
If anyone has any reason for not posting in "Meet Onboard", I'd love to hear why!

In todays world? STALKERS! Over on the other site they even post what room they are going to be in. That is just flat out crazy!
Poppa_Daddyo, you need to get a life. I guess everyone is after you,and they all have a cigarette in their mouth!
Luanne, to answer your question, the "Meet on Board" on our site, is so difficult to use! They need to break down the cats better. At least list the ships separately, and then perhaps have a standard way to list the posting. ie: Miracle 12-NOV-2006, then sort if possible. Right now under Carnival, there are page after page of listings, and many of them have already sailed! It's maddening to find "your sailing". There has got to be a better way.
I totally agree with Skymaster, having to first scroll through page after page of threads to try and find if your cruise has already been posted. Then if it hasn't and you start one yourself and it doesn't get any responses, it just gets lost. The topic definitely needs a face lift so that it is easier to search.

Hello Luanne.........I posted months ago on that site and have heard from 3 people already for our May 6,2007 Valor cruise. Hope others respond to it..........it's great to get to know each other before boarding......and then once on board meeting. I still have friends from other cruises I've taken and still keep in touch with them. It's a great way to pass the time before your cruise also.

Ken, I totally agree with you about separating the "Meet On Board" by ship and not cruise line. It's very hard to find anything. First you're looking for the ship, then you're looking for the date. Very difficult.

I see I must of offended another cigarette smoker!

OMG! I actuallyagree with PD ! Although I post on the Roll Calls I'd never give out my cabin number! I also don't put a "sign" on my door and I don't even use my "real" name until we meet onboard.
I guess I'm paranoid, too . You just never know...

Nope,,,I haven't smoked for over 30 years,,,just noticed that an awful lot of your posts have to do with cigarette smokers...
Ken
I just want first time cruisers to be aware of the nasty habit. I had a successful cruise my first time out, but my other cruises were all smoke infested. Just trying to be honest, so they can be prepared. Some people have medical conditions and should be aware of this before they board or even book. It is not like they can just leave the ship like they could at a local restaurant.
Hello again PD.
To be absolutely honest with you, I agree with about 90% of what you've posted about smokers, I just try to not let it ruin my cruises. I too have had them blow smoke at me in the "non smoking" public areas, but I just chalk it up to ignorance.
Have a great cruise anyway, and don't let it take over your whole mind set while on a cruise, or otherwise.

I see you are going on the Miracle in a few weeks. Please let me know how the smoking was, since I will be on the Miracle next year.

You can count on it. I'll post upon our return. The worst smoke filled room we've experienced lately was the room where the karaoke was being held on the Glory. It was a samll room, and totally packed with smokers every night. It was so bad that when I'd return to the cabin, the lovely Mrs. Jones (Vita) would make me put my clothing in a sealed plastic bag, and take a shower before I could come to bed!

Later,
Ken[/quote]My point exactly. We do not need to go through all that stinky smoke. My worst encounter by smoke on my last cruise was in the eating area. Yes, the eating area. Amazing how that is a non smoking area and it was worse than the casino. I only walked past the casino since I do not subject myself to smoking areas. The clothes we wear then have to go back to our cabins and stink them all up for the remainder of the cruise. I bring the sprays to sanitize everything. Would be much more enjoyable without being on pins and needles wondering if people on the cruise are going to follow the rules or be rude and blow that smoke your direction. I f Carnival would enforce these rules that they make, then it would be more enjoyable knowing the smokers would be dealt with. Most smokers will just smoke in non smoking areas until somebody tells them. Then a few that were told will try again. You see that everywhere. Big signs and announcements would help, but security needs to be enforcing it!
Mean while back to the topic. I see that so many of you have made suggestions for improving the Meet On Board. I know for a fact that Cruisemates is interested in doing what it takes to make things work better. Does anyone else have any ideas, and have you had success with the board?
Luanne, I don't know if this will help or how it can help, but on the Meet on Board site on Cruise Mates I have had 179 views and no posts (except for Redzone and I talking)
But on the other site, I have had 33 views and 4 posts.
Hope this helps.

I have posted in several links, plus on the Roll Call section regarding my trip next year, and still no responses. But, I also figure its early yet for anyone to respond. Would be nice to meet some people, to meet the face with the typing. .
I've definitely got you beat! I have 22 posts, several from Magnolia Blossom who was trying to help keep my post "up", one from someone I met on "another" board, and 1170 "LookyLou's"!
Granted, some of those were mine, checking to see if anyone had posted (I don't trust the "notify me" function"!), but not1170!
I hope you find other's cruising with you !
