Default I need Holiday info

Hi my family and I are going on a cruise on the Holiday on Jan 6th. I'm very excited! It's a Christmas surprise! Anyone have any sugestions on how to get the most out of the trip? We will be going to Costa Maya and Coz. Last but not least any suggestions on what hotel to stay in the night before the cruise in Mobile? Are there any that allows you to park your car there while your on the cruise? As you can tell I'm excited!

I have not been on the Holiday, but it sounds wonderful.

Suggestions: Google Mobile Find the hotels in the area, and see if any offer cruise parking. You can also read reviews on line for the motels.

I don't know a lot about the Holiday, but you know who makes the most of a cruise? you do. Go to Carnivals web site, and click on excursions. For both of your ports, there should be lots of things to do.

If you find something, let us know, and someone will know a little about it.

My husband and I will be on the Holiday, October23-Nov.2 (back to back cruises). I'll write a review when we get back.

We have been told that the Radisson Admiral Motel has a stay-park policy. It is about 5 blocks from the port. I think it is $144 to spend the night and leave the car there while you are on the cruise.

I live in Mobile and just got back last week from the 4 day cruise on the Holiday. My husband and I finally talked another couple in to taking their first cruise. We had a blast. It was my third cruise and will definetely do this ship again. My only regret is I felt guilty for leaving the 3 kids at home with grandma and plan to take them next time. Had a lot to offer for kids of all ages.

As far as where to stay, the Radisson Admiral Semmes Hotel is a unique historic place and the rooms each are tailored differently. The parking is a nice, covered garage and from what I understand, they do have a shuttle to and from the cruise terminal. The Riverview Plaza is also downtown, near the terminal. This hotel is currently under renovations, but may be worth a try.

Downtown Mobile has quite a few attractions, Fort Conde, the USA Battleship and the Exploreum are all close to the cruise terminal and these hotels.

You should have a great time!

Last time I checked (a few weeks ago), the Rad.Adm.Semmes had a cruise special for $99 that included a room, breakfast, comp parking while on the cruise, and a shuttle to the terminal. Great deal. (Parking at the cruise terminal garage has gone up to $12/day, so if you stay at a less expensive motel, parking would be at your cost.) The RAS package is the best I've seen in quite awhile.

Default Holiday

I have been on the Holiday 3 times and to Cozumel and Costa Maya several times on several different ships. The Holiday is a small but friendly ship and is easy to find your way around. We prefer early dinner seating on this ship because there are so many things that we missed on the ship the one time we booked a late seating.

The package from the Admiral Semmes sounds perfect for you, but book early. I don't know the schedule for Mardi Gras in Mobile yet but, if your trip is during Mardi Gras if will be very difficult to get a hotel in Mobile. If this is the case, try Daphne Alabama, which is right across the bay from Mobile or even Pensacola Florida. It takes about 45 minutes to get from P'cola to Mobile. I do believe, that the Admiral Semmes offers parking with Shuttle to cruise passengers for a small fee for non-hotel guests as well.

When we go to Costa Maya, we usually skip the touristy dock area for the most part and head to the fishing village of Majahual. We take a taxi and then walk throught the village to the far end (about 1/2 mile) and go to the beach there. The water is crystal clear. There is also a large wading pool in town, near the dock with a swim up bar and lots of shops if you prefer that.

Cozumel has had much hurricane damage, but is working hard to get back to normal. There are lots of shops where the tender boats dock or you can get a taxi to the old part of town to shop. Go to the shopping show on the boat for bargains and suggestions of where to shop. There are lots of excursions as well if you want to spend the money. If not, go to Paradise Beach or Chakanaub State Park (still under repair in August 06). Paradise Beach charges $8.00 a day for full use of their beach and all activities. They offer a restaurant with beach chair service, showers and bathrooms, in water trampolines and rock climbing, floats, kayaks, etc. plus other additional charge things like jet ski and parasailing. You can take the catamaran out and go snorkeling for $25-$35 for two hours with free drinks. They do have a website, just enter Paradise Beach Cozumel Mexico.

Most important have fun and enjoy it to the max. It is always too short lived.

We are taking our second cruise on this ship over Christmas. The Holiday is a wonderful ship with an excellent crew. We have cruised on CCL three times and the best cruises have been on the smaller, older ships - this one and the Celebration. Why? Because the crew on both are simply outstanding. This ship has been recently refurbished which always is nice. Don't know if this is your first cruise; the ship is small but still offers a lot of the amenities of the bigger ships, just on a smaller scale. This is an older ship, but kept up in excellent shape by a highly dedicated and friendly crew. New bedding, supposed to be really comfy and a miniature golf course has been added to one of the top decks. Shows are good, food is good, and you should have great weather going in early January. Don't worry about Mardi Gras - too early. The last time we were in Mobile, we stayed at the Ramada downtown - don't stay there - old, odd-smelling rooms, damp and mildewy. We have stayed in plenty of hotels close to the water that did not smell "odd" like this one, especially for the price. The parking garage at the terminal is covered except for the top deck so you need to weigh the cost of the garage plus a room away from downtown versus the cost of the room downtown and, yes, some do include parking and will shuttle you to the terminal, but that may not save you any money and that may not even be important to you. We are staying in the La Quinta as you come into Mobile from the east, this time, and will park at the parking garage at the terminal. This terminal is extremely easy to get to and embarkation is the smoothest we have seen anywhere. There is a lot to see and do both downtown and around town, that is why we will not stay downtown this go round because there is so much to see and so - did not realize that until the first time we stayed in Mobile. The Radisson is highly recommended, if that is what you choose. We were going to stay there, but we need two rooms and they were a little pricey, so we opted for a less expensive hotel and will pay the fee at the garage - came out a little better money-wise by the time we added everything up. If you eat breakfast downtown before boarding, we would recommend "A Spot of Tea" which is in the historical district and has excellent stuffed french toast and crepes! Carnival's website is excellent and has a ton of information regarding the shore excursions. Read them and you should have enough info to decide what all you want to do. Shopping is good in Cozumel, avoid the T-shirts which are cheap and will shrink A LOT! If you take a horse-drawn buggy ride, ask the price first! We did not, had a great ride through town and then found out how much the driver wanted - we were such suckers! $45 for a 30-minute ride seemed a little steep to me. XCaret is an eco/archeological park that is loaded with things to do and see, everything from local historical dance to animal exhibits to swimming with the dolphins, has its own beach - would highly recommend that. Only drawback is that it is some distance to get to and once there, you will probably be there all day which eliminates doing anything else. Same for the Mayan ruins, but we did go there the first time we went to that area, and I'm glad we did. ATV's are fun, too. There are so many things to do, study this board for recommendations and look over the details on CCL's website, that way you can decide before you get there and, I'm sure, you will have a great time!

Just got back from the five day cruise that the Holiday offers. It was a very enjoyable experience for my wife and I. We stayed at the Raddisson, the cost of the room included secure storage of our vehicle during the duration of the cruise, transportation to and from the port, and a buffet style breakfast. The ship and crew were outstanding to include all aspects of dining. Food, food, food.......(and did I mention food) await your arrival. If you like eating, you will be in heaven. The casino is great and the shows that were provided for our entertainment were just that. Your room is cleaned twice a day, your bed is turned down at night, your ice bucket is always full. Cozumel and Calica were great and the weather was beautiful. The Jungle ATV adventure was worth the money and we also went horseback riding along the beach. Everyone was professional and very courteous throughout the whole trip. Having traveled to many places during my twenty-two years in the Army and having stayed at numerous resorts, I would have to truthfully say that this was one of my better experiences across the board. On a scale of 1 to 10....I give this cruise a big niner!

Hi, Sounds like you're ready to go!!! Check out the web site "park, sleep, fly" they will give you a list of hotels that offer a package to allow you to park your car there for up to 14 days. Hope that helps.
Have a great trip!!! Cindy from Canada

We stayed at the Admiral Semmes Raddison in July and it was very nice! We booked the cruise & park special ($99). We left the car in their garage and they shuttled us from the hotel to the port and back again. Also included breakfast. We will book there again if we cruise out of Mobile. THe Holiday is one of our favorite ships. Crew is very friendly and nice. Due to rough waters we did not get to dock at Costa Maya. We did the deluxe beach break at Cozumel. Very beautiful beach with several water toys available.
