we're sailing on the glory nov.11,2006 and just received our doc's. was reading about cell phones and was told by carnival that the glory is equiped with a cell tower. has anyone sailed the glory or any other ship to the eastern caribbean since this has happened. also what cell phone carrier do you have. any help with htis would be greatly appreicated as we sail in 3 weeks.
Yes ,if you have Cingular, ( not sure about any other carriers )you can use your cell phone while at sea. Its called Cingular @ sea. Its cheaper than using the ship phone, but its still high. A 3-minute phone call will cost you about $10.00. All Carnival ships have it.
Also, when we where in St. Thomas in May, I used my cell phone while in port . And the best part was, no additional charges where on my cell bill.
We have a good friend of ours thats on the Glory this week. From our last report, there having the time of there life You should have a wonderful cruise on the Glory.

SS Norway (12 times) '85 - '97; Radiance OS 06/01; Island Princess 11/04, Grand Princess 11/04/05, Golden Princess 7/21/06, Golden Princess 2/24/07, Explorer of the Seas 12/23/07, Island Princess 11/15/08
I have T-Mobile and was able to use my phone in all of the ports (St. Thomas, St. Martin, Barbados, Aruba, Peurto Rico) Just make sure you have international roaming turned on. I did not any any signal on the ship for phone calls, but every once in awhile an email would come across my blackberry, even at sea.
