Last night on the Conquest around 11:30 a man was reported over board. They did the search and rescue without success.
Ship is due into Galveston around 11:00 Central Time. If you are seeing this from your motel, please stay put. Wait until you know that the ship is in, and that they are now boarding. This is going to be a long wait.
Information coming from a passenger on the Conquest at this time.

This is starting to get ridiculous. People are going crazy on these ships.
From the Chronicle...
A Carnival cruise ship is returning to its Galveston homeport after it spent several hours early this morning searching for a passenger who reportedly went overboard, company officials confirmed.
Another guest on the Carnival Conquest reported seeing the victim go overboard from a cabin balcony about 11 p.m., officials said.
"The ship's command immediately initiated search-and-rescue procedures and notified (the) U.S. Coast Guard," Carnival Cruise Lines officials said in a statement.
The ship spent several hours searching for the missing passenger until it was released to return to port later today by Coast Guard officials.
The Carnival Conquest was on the last leg of a seven-day cruise through the western Caribbean when the passenger was reported missing.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Courage and perserverance have a magical talisman; before which difficulties disappear and obstacles vanish into the air.
Pick your company wisely! Hang around people who are going to help you become all God created you to be.
I have often wondered what causes a person to do this type of act.
I have heard all the excuses, but just don't understand. What a waste of life.
So sorry for the loved ones and their loss.
I know, James. I feel the same way. I have had some very bad times in my life, but never felt that total hopelessness these people must feel. My thoughts are with the family members left, trying to make sense of it all.

This is what I've been trying to tell everyone. I'm sorry for the guys family but.....

I'm glad you posted HOW he fell overboard...my 14-year old is a little paranoid with all the "missing persons" on cruise ships, and we'll be cruising next month! This is so horribley tragic, but it also can serve as a lesson...moderation.
Still a tragic waste of life.I think those of us that enjoy a good drink still find it hard to understand why a person would put their life in danger doing these types of things.
If I remember correctly, when I over-indulged (and that has been QUITE a few years ago)......all I wanted was the porcelain god! I learned when to stop a long time ago. When I reach that point, I order Diet Coke. It isn't that hard! Everyone has a good time and I'm not sick as a dog! We don't do stupid things and we don't become Superman. The craziness doesn't seem to be restricted to the younger generation either!
Cassandra I agree with your thoughts. I'm wondering why no one has filed a lawsuit against the cruise lines because they didn't stop serving alcohol to a drunk. Maybe it has to do with the country the ship is registered in.
The BOOOOOZE will flow, the cruise lines make many bucks on booze....
I don't see any solution to the problem.... Why must a person have a drink to have a good time???? I still have 4 bottles of unopened Rum & 1 bottle of Crown Royal still sealed from my past cruises.... I'am going to age it for 10 more years ...

Ohhhhh Take the spiced rum, and add a little water, and put it on a simmer on the stove. The smell is to die for, and your holiday guests will wonder what you fixed.
Here goes...you need 5 shot glasses and a iced tea glass of Diet Dr. Pepper. Fill shot glasses with spiced rum....hold your breath and throw one back, followed by a long sip of Diet DP. (Don't mix the two liquids...it will ruin the Diet DP). Continue until shot glasses are empty.....Refill.....repeat! I haven't tried it, but it might work?!
i sure hope your not in a balcony cabin, i dont want to read about ANOTHER passenger falling overboard :o
