There's always Carlos-n-Charlie's! But beware, many a passenger have missed their boat hangin round there too long. I wouldn't worry bout the weather prediction, if it rains, it won't rain long. If the ferry is operating between Coz and the mainland, there's some gorgeous beach there in Playa del Carmen. I'm really not sure what was affected by the hurricanes, so a more recent visiter could probably help yah better. Cozumel is always a great stop.
It rained on us off and on when we were in Cozumel in August. It was a warm rain and didn't slow us down at all. It was absolutely pouring when we were having breakfast in the Lido, we got off the ship at about 10:00 and it wasn't raining, we took a taxi to Paradise Beach and just as we got there we heard some seriously loud thunder and it started raining again. We were cracking up, standing under umbrellas putting on sunscreen! The rain continued off and on most of the morning, but we swam anyway, it was cool sitting on the water tramp with the rain coming down (by that time it was just sprinkling). It cleared up by late morning and we were even able to rent wave-runners. It was a great day with more than enough sun in between the showers. I say go for whatever you want to do. If it's really pouring they might not have the parasailing or waverunners operating, but the weather can change really quickly in the tropics, so you never know. Have a great trip!

This recommendation makes me smile. I love to ride horses, although I haven't riden often, but my DH was thrown the last time he was on a horse and simply refuses to get on another one. As he says "I'm scared of them, and they know it!"
The last time I rode was in the mountains in Colorado. My DS and I took a ride -- it was the first time for him! Very fun!

A couple of years ago, we had barely settled in at Paradise Beach when it started raining hard. We simply moved into their open air/covered bar/restaurant and had a wonderful time. Still a great way to spend a few hours in Paradise!
