All of the trivia I have seen was in the theaters. You play as a group, with prizes.

You will see trivia contests posted in the daily bullitin, which you will receive every night in your cabin. Usually in a lounge or theater but some ships have a daily written trivia contest with forms that you pick up and leave in the library. I guess that gets a few more people into the library. trivia buff

The only trivia games I've ever seen on ship were (1) the ones in the main theatre. These might be "broadcast" to the tv sets in the rooms, as they sometimes do a little "travelogue" of what's happened on the ship the previous day(s)....and (2) a trivia game for the Carnival Vacation Club members once. I think if you win the main trivia game you get a ship-on-a-stick. I don't know what the prize was on the other one because I didn't win!

I still remember one of the questions I missed.

Do you know what Dorothy's last name in the Wizard of Oz was?

Dorothy's last name isn't given in the original novel of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Her last name is first mentioned in the 1902 stage version of the story Baum wrote a few years later: "My name is Dorothy Gale. I'm one of the Kansas Gales." To which the Scarecrow replies, "Well, that explains your breezy manner." In the later Oz books, Baum kept the name but mercifully spared his readers the pun. The last name was also used in The Movie, Return to Oz, and other adaptations of the story.

Now if tou had your PC with you .......

They are never given a last name in the books. In The Movie, Miss Gulch refers to Uncle Henry as "Mr. Gale," but in Return to Oz, Dr. Worley calls Aunt Em "Mrs. Blue." Since these references come from movies, and not the books, they're considered to be apocryphal, and the question is still unanswered.

No fair, Irish! You googled it! Maybe Faith was all that was left of Faith, Hope, and Love! The rest was sandblasted off!

I've played trivia on just about every cruise I've been on. On Carnival, we won "ships on a stick", little cheap trophys. On Princess, we won luggage straps that were actually useful. On Holland America, we won the best prizes, mugs with the abbreviated name of the ship. On the Maasdam, we won "M-Dam" mugs (for my daughter Melissa), on the Ryndam we won R-Dam mugs (for son Ryan), and on the Volendam we won V-Dam mugs (for daughter Victoria).

I just wish someone had better prizes...and I wish HAL had ships whose names begin with a D or a T...

A funny (or maybe not so funny ) story...

On our last Carnival cruise they were playing trivia on the pool deck. We weren't playing, just enjoying watching.

The man sitting at the table behind us was filling in his trivia sheet as they gave the answers! Not too surprisingly, he won! He got up to get his "solid gold plastic ship on a stick" and everyone (except us) applauded him!

So, if you're playing trivia, check out your competitors !

Just returned from the Pride and they had a new thing where there was a live show broadcast to cabin TVs from different locations (a morning show) by the CD and Asst CD. You could attend the show live or watch from your cabin and they did indeed play trivia a couple times and you could call a certain number on your phone to give your answer. It seemed the live audience always got preference though.

We were just on the "Miracle" and they were playing a lot of the trivia games on the pool deck. Lots of fun, entertaining, and informative! Some of the games they were playing were "Movie Theme Songs", and another was "T.V. show Theme Songs". Being heavily into music, I knew most of both, but was watching, and not playing. The one that seemed to stump most, that I just happen to know was the Harry Conick Jr. version of "It had to be you", from "When Harry Met Sally". I told the lady sitting next to me, but she still didn't win the "ship on the stick".
See you aboard,
Ken

I also heard (from a staffer) that in the future you would be able to play trivia and video poker on your in-cabin TV.

I'm happy to say I'm sailing on Saturday, so I'll let you know!
