Is it true that Carnival actually lets you take some alcohol on board? If so, what kinds and how do you go about doing this?

Well that's not what I'm reading on Carnival's site. They state:
Guests are prohibited from bringing alcoholic beverages on board. However, wine enthusiasts may bring fine wine or champagne on board only during embarkation at the beginning of the cruise. A $10 corkage fee per bottle will be charged should you wish to consume this wine in the dining room or a $14 corkage fee per bottle in the Supper Club.http://www.carnival.com/CMS/FAQs/Liq...on_Policy.aspx
We were gonna take a bottle of wine. Are you sure about your info and do you have a link to substantiate it?

Well your right, but Cruise Critics ain't! Their site indeed states exactly as you posted, but Carnival's corporate site will always supercede anything listed elswhere. BUT, just to be sure, I called ARVELLA at 1-888-CARNIVAL. She says you may indeed bring wine onboard and consume it in your cabin. She also said, while the policy doesn't specify any quantity, they don't want yah bringin 10 bottles for a 3 day cruise. (She musta been readin my mind )
Of course the Carnival site will take precidence. I just did a quick Google search and used that one.
My mistake, I should have gone to the Carnival site.
