I wouldn't in Cozumel. It is a very safe place to walk around, do some shopping, plus you can find beaches that do not cost to use them.

Here are your options:

Reef Club is an all inclusive $40.00 per person.
Playa Uvas is about the same, also very nice.
Nachi Cocom is $69.00 a day, but is designed for adults only.

All of the above have pools along with a beach and are very nice.
This price does NOT include transportation from the ship. Taxis are EVERYWHERE and will cost you about $14.00 for a taxi of 4 ONE WAY.

Now...if you want to "pay as you go" ... here are your options:

Paradise Beach - no entry fee Lounge chairs, table, shade, clean restrooms, changing rooms, etc are all "free" but they do expect you to eat/drink at least $10.00 per person. There are lockers there that you cah rent for $4 a day if you need them (we never have needed them) and there is an optional wristband that you can purchse for $9 to use all their non-motorized toys. (kayaks, iceberg, water trampoline, snorkeling ~deposit that is refunded when equipment is returned). The $9 wristband again is optional. We are a family of four and our 2 boys got the wristband on the last trip, but hubby and I did not.

As an example, last week when we were there from 9am - noon...we bought 2 frozen margaritas , a plate of cheese nachos , a plate of chicken faquitas , a beer and a bottle water and our bill was about $42.00 total. (plus a $12.00 tip) The boys each got a wristband at $9 each for a total of another $18.00. Taxi there and back was $28.00.

So for a grand total of $100.00 ..... our family of four had 3 hours of entertainment. (and we could have stayed longer...but our youngest son is a special needs child and can't last longer than 3 hours)

Mr. Sanchos is also a pay as you go. They do not have an entrance fee. They are very nice as well, but lost 50ft of beach after Wilma...so their beach is very narrow. It will cost you about the same price as PB.

Playa Mia is another pay as you go. They do have an entrance fee. I can't remember if it is $8 or $12 per person. And then you buy your drinks and food on top of that.

Again...all of these places will require that you provide your own transportation. But taxis are like grains of sand...they are EVERYWHERE when you go and when you want to come back.

At Paradise Beach, Tom has a shaded area where the taxi drivers can sit and watch a little tv and have a coke while they wait for folks to go back to the ship. Also at Paradise Beach, they have massages for $20, hair braiding (not sure of the cost), jet skis ($55.00 for 1/2 hour) and parasailing. They also have a catamaran that takes folks to the good snorkeling (to have to get away from the beach for that) that runs some $35.00 person for a 2 hour snorkel. It leaves at noon from Paradise Beach's dock!!

Cozumel is very tourist friendly. You will have a ball.

If it is Carnival and it floats....we have sailed it!

Hubby ... DIAMOND (every ship except the Carnivale)
Me ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale)
20 year old son ... DIAMOND (every ship starting with the Tropicale...he is the only DOUBLE Milestone under the age of 21)
24 year old son ... DIAMOND
