Default Luggage damaged! Anyone else?

We just returned from the Victory and our luggage was distroyed. 5 out of 9 pieces! The material was ripped, metal stabalizers broke off and wheels too. Even on the sides you can feel where the corner and side supprts have been shattered or broke. Our luggage was purchased for the cruise, and had never before been used. Luckily it was not top of the line luggage but it was not bottom either. We filled out a claim right there. There was a carnival lady sitting at a table for those problems. She said we should hear something from Carnival in about 10 days. Has anyone else had luggage problems and if so what was the outcome? What did they do to resolve the problem?

I think you have to try to get it repaired yourself before Carnival will do anything. Read your claim form I know there's something on there about this.

You may also be able to file a claim with your travel insurance company if you purchased that. I had one piece of luggage get ruined after a cruise, but it was older, so I just replaced it with some good luggage, haven't had a problem with that.

[/b]I picked up some TravelPro a few years ago and have been extremely happy with it. Its tough luggage, so far not a scratch or anything broken, etc.

I don't have expensive luggage, I paid $35 for my 26" expandable. I've use it on 8 cruises, my son also took it to Cancun for his honeymoon and my brother used it on his cruise/tour to Alaska. So far, it's holding up well, nothing has broken yet.

So, I don't think it's the cost of the luggage or the brand. I think it's just the way it's handled and you just never know what's going to happen.
