Default Cruising and Scuba Diving

What about cruising and scuba diving? This question for certified experienced divers. Do you suggest bringing you own dive equipment such as regs, body suits, masks and fins and only rent the tanks at which ever location one chooses to dive??

I normally take my snorkel and mask, and sometimes fins. I just got a new (shorty) wetsuit and I'll probably take that. Otherwise they have everything you need...

Take a camera too...either a disposable waterproof one with flash, or get a good digital one with diving case (I have a Canon SD 700 IS)...
