Help 1st time cruise

Hi Everyone!

I am a 1st time cruiser and I need your help. We are taking a big family vacation .. and not by my choice but the family has decided on a carnival cruise to canada in June.. (i wanted the bahamas).. Has anyone taken this cruise out of NY? going to Halifax and NB.. Is there much to do for my 75 yr old mom on this cruise? She has trouble with walking... also how are the ports in Canada? The excursions look a bit boring to me? How about the weather there?
