To my knowledge, Dana Hodson is the current CD on Glory. They usually sign up for 6-9 month contracts on a given ship...which they may or may not renew.
I was on the GLORY in Nov. (07) and Dana Hodson was on. He has an ego the size of Texas.
in Dec I was on the CELEBRATION and they had an interim CD - A female, she was not good. She was preceeded by Chris (male) and he was great.

I have been on 4 Carnival cruises & have been lucky enough to have great Cruise Directors. I am just curious when folks talk about bad cruise directors, what do they do or not do that makes them bad? I will say that the band leader on the Glory in 04 was too busy trying to be a comedian, & it got bad enough that a cruiser exclaimed the last night "Insert saxaphone in mouth, remove saxaphone when song is over & quietly sit down".
Why do folks care who is the CD. Do they make or break the cruise for you?

I was on Carnival's Jubilee years ago (1995 or 1996) and there was a very young man (early 20's if that) in the role of CD. I overheard him in the Lido Cafe one afternoon loudly bragging to a group of teens about how much money he made!
No matter what his wage was, in my opinion, he was, indeed, severely overpaid!

Make or break? NO!
But an entertaining one makes it that much better. I'd rather have a Robin Williams type up there than a Robert Frost. And the worst would be a Robert Frost trying to be a Robin Williams.
A good cruise director infects his/her passengers. And can actually make the experience unique.
It's nice that no two cruises have been the same for me!

I agree a great cruise director makes the cruise. If you get a mediocre cruise director he/she can make the cruise a drag. We have been lucky with the the CD we have had but one was well dry at first the he "Woke up' and had a fabulous time. looking fwd to Glory 3 Nov 2007

Don't know where Dana went. He was seen disembarking the ship a couple of weeks ago with all his luggage on the dock. I will tell you about Wee Jimmie after next week. We sail with him Saturday. Have heard a lot about him so am anxious to see him next week on the Glory.
