Default AirTran Direct Flight from Indy to Miami OK?

Looking at booking direct flights from Indy to Miami for a cruise. The flight gets in at 1:40pm. Is this flight OK for traveling on the Imagination Cruise?

Thanks,

Too tight for me. With a 1600 departure, the slighest delay and you will miss the ship.

If it arrives on time at 1340, you have to get your bags; get a taxi, and check-in at the pier.

Good Luck.

Try going to cheapoair dot com and see what they have. I rarely end up booking with them because their fees are kind of high unless the fare is really less expensive than what the airlines are offering directly. However I have found it a valuable tool to find great deals on air, then I go and check it out at the airlines website that had the best deal and/or schedule I need and see if I'm better off booking it with Cheapo or with the airline. The other thing you may want to consider is to fly in the day before if possible. However sometimes it just isn't possible.

Seeing the Airtran name reminds me of a trip I made in '99. I was on an Airtran flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Mobile and then to Houston. As I was flying over the swamps of Florida, I recalled the flight a year earlier (I think it was) where a passenger jet was damaged by a pressurized cannister and crashed into the swamps I was looking at.

A week later, I was reading a business magazine and was dumbfounded when I read that Airtran is the new name of that same airline that had crashed. I have NOT been on Airtran since....

Hi mehawk, The flight that crashed in the Everglades was in May, 1996, and the airline was then called Valujet. Valujet wanted to repair it's image after that horrible crash and approached a small Orlando based airline called AirTran for a merger. The two became one, and Valujet took the AirTran name. I have flown with them myself in 1999, and will not hesitate to fly with them again. All their aircraft are now new B-717-200 and New Generation(NG)B-737 -700 planes. The first 717 was delivered new in 1999. The last was delivered last year(2006)It's a different company now.

bar1986, that is too much hustling, after waiting for your luggage, then walking out to catch a cab, dealing with traffic on a weekend in Miami, that won't do. You need to get a flight that arrives earlier in the morning, like about 10 or 11:00 O' clock.

since the vast majority of ships sail around 5pm that would be cutting it really, really close, doesn't leave you any wiggle room in case something goes wrong. By the time you land, deplane and retrieve your baggage it could be close to 2:30 -3:00 pm that basically only gives you an hour to get to the termnial and check in, as the cruise ships like most passengers to be aboard 1 hour before departure
