Default do you like it when a ship stays in port overnight?

I have a few places I want to go (already contiplating my nest 2 cruises)! However, both have ports that stay overnight. I'm not so sure I really like that - I like to be AT SEA! What are your thoughts, experiences with this? I am looking at the Hawaii cruise and the Canada/New England one. However, experiences with any are welcome? Thanks

We have never stayed overnight in a port. The closest we have come to it was in Hamburg. We left about 2300. That was fine as we took the train to Berlin for the day and were able to see some of Hamburg at night.

I think that is OK, but not a full night.

Hi Cheryl

I stayed in port for a few days when I went to Bermuda It was nice, like being in a hotel on the ocean, You did not have to worry about them leaving you behind if you were running late, but I do like being in the middle of the ocean better.

We live close to Port Canaveral so needless to say, we've been to Nassau more than once! Both the Fantasy ( when it was here ) and now the Sensation spent most of the night there on the three day cruises. The advantage, as I see it, is that you can go into town for dinner which is usually not an option in most ports. The down side is, when you walk out on your balcony at midnight, you get to see downtown Nassau instead of the ocean! Maybe I should have gotten a cabin on the "port" side of the ship!

I guess it has its ups and downs. I have never eaten out in port believe it or not - I figured I payed for it with the cruise - so just eat there. I'll have to check it all out - I can live with one night in port I guess.

I was thrilled when we stayed in port because I knew that we weren't going to be rocking all night! I got a great night of sleep!

I would want to be at sea myself.
