My wife and I are taking Mexico riviera cruise on Spirit this Sunday. A dark suit is recommended for formal nights. How many actually wear a dark suit? Can men get by in sport coat? W/o tie? Can one eat elsewhere if we don't want to dress up?
Formal night(s) are a great part of every cruise. Most men wear suits (most suits are dark, but not all) and some men do not dress-up at all. [They are very few, but will be seated just the same.] Getting dressed-up after being all week in shorts and t-shirts adds to the "ship-board experience" and should not be missed! It is worth a little extra effort.
I pack one dark suit with two desss shirts (one white for formal night) and two ties. The same shoes, socks and belt are worn for both nights to reduce packing. Bring a camera. Other passengaers and cruise staff will be more than happy to take your picture. Take many! Also, take advantage of the ship photographers. Have many pictures taken at different settings. This way you have abetter chance at getting a good one.
We are sailing on the Spirit from Hawaii next October. Good sailing!!!!
