I thought the sail & sign card was the only card you got and it was your room key. Would anyone know of any Carnival ships that still issue a separate room key?
Gamom is asking for information for her group cruise, so I told her I would ask........Her group is sailing on the Celebration and I'm sailing on the Conquest. Thanks for the info!

When you said Glory had the same key card - did you mean the same as the other ships? (2 cards - one for key & one sign & sail) or did you mean the same card for both? (just one card)?

Just one card that was used for both the door and for your on board purchases.

Does anyone know which ships other than the Celebration (and I'm assuming the Holiday - since they are about the same age) have two different keys - a room key and a sign and sail key. We are set for this year aboard the Celebration - but just for future reference - I was wondering....I wonder if they were the cruise ships after a certain date.
I am now wondering if you are concerned about the two keys? Actually, one key and your sail and sign card. If you are concerned, please let us know what your feelings are, and that way we can try to reassure you.
That is what I was wanting to know - but I read somewhere that on some of the newer ships that you have a sign and sail card that is the room key also. And I knew that on the two cruises we have been on that we have had the sign and sail card and a separate room key...I guess I'm so concerned because once we get on the cruise we are actually going to be swapping rooms we just had to book it so an adult was showing in each room. Thanks
Let me reassure you that if you have a ship with two keys, you can just swap, but if you are on a ship that has Sign and Sail cards, for keys, you go to the Pursers office, and tell them you need a key for a certain room. They will give you a red white and blue S&S card, that only opens the door. If you have cruised before and your S&S is gold, your key card will still be red, white and blue. Don't do like my son did. (we always have to go and get extra keys, because boys are under age.) On your way up to the room, don't put the key card in your pocket with a cell phone. It will erase it. Hope this helps. If not let me know.
Since you have a separate room key, swapping won't be a problem for you. You will just have to locate your final bill on the last night of the cruise. They are going to slip it under the door you "booked" in.
Ordinarily getting a room key wouldn't be a problem on the ships that have just one card, but when Carnival suspects it is a student group, they won't give you a room key. They try to make sure the adult stays in the room with the students. I wouldn't have believed it if it hadn't happened to a friend of mine.
This time we are going to go to the desk one or two at a time to see if we can get room keys. It may work. Luanne can sweet talk all of those people, I really need lessons from her!

Someone at the office was talking last week about how a cell phone could erase the memory in a hotel key -- they said they had it happen twice. I had never heard that before - but it was good to know! Thank you all so much for your help! I think we now have everything under control (unless some other kids call and book the cruise!) We now have an adult showing in every room - except for the rooms that are beside their parent - the children (young adults) will be in a room with another child of someone with a parent on the other side of the room. We are now all booked in double rooms..which is good - because we won't have to be swapping money between us! My suggestion was...if any other student wants to go..let them find an adult to go with them!!!!
I hear that! We had one student book, then cancel and now she wants to be added back in. She happens to be a very close friend of my daughter. When she mentioned it, I told her she needed to find someone over 25 to cruise with her. She wasn't happy because she is one of the kids that doesn't want her parents to go on the cruise. Her mom offered but I don't think it will happen.
Stick to your guns and have a GREAT cruise!
