Nassau and Freeport

I will be on Carnival Sensation in March will be going to Nassau and Freeport I would like to do Atlantis should I do excursion from Carnival or go on my own does anyone know the price difference? We will be in Nassau for 2 days any other really good excursion I sould do there??....and finally Freeport anything here I should do and one last thing some one told me it would be too chilly to swim in march in Nassau is that true??

Just got back from that cruise less than a week ago.

1st- you are only in Nassau for 24 hours. 7AM-7AM, NOT 2 days....

2nd-I went swimming in the unheated pool at the British Colonial Hilton last Tuesday. (Jan. 30) It was cold but myself and a few kids were swimming off and on.
Ocean was a bit too chilly.

I'm sure you'll be fine by March.

Can't help you with excursions, as in 2 trips to Nassau this year, we have just done our own thing...

This time we had breakfast, left the ship about 7:30AM and did a walking tour of the sights of Nassau. (most within 4-5 blocks of the ship)

Returned to the ship for lunch and changed into our swimsuits then headed over to the British Colonial Hilton for swimming (me) and sunning.
Then we hit a few shops on the way back to the ship.

Has dinner onboard and changed clothes again.
Went out and caught a cab to Atlantis. ($11 for both of us, $10 back)
Saw the Digs aquarium for free (since the guards go home around 6PM, then it is open until lights go out around 11PM) walked through the Mall we could never shop at (Versace, etc...) and hit the Casino for a few minutes and headed back to the pier and a couple of hours of drinks at Senor Frogs before returning to the ship for a snack and bed.

The whole day cost us $30 for both of us to use the Hilton's beach and pool all day and $21 round trip for us both to ride to Atlantis.
(plus of course drinks and shop purchases)

Also, remember if anybody is planning on shopping, that most of the shops in Nassau and Freeport close at around 6PM.

The shops at Atlantis were still open at 10-10:30PM when we were over there.

So if anybody is a shopper, plan your day accordingly or they will miss out.

We were in Nassau back in January.....did not book any excursions thruough carnival...there was a taxi service with a van that was offering a two hour tour on nassau and then to the atlantis...carnival warns people not to do this...but we went with 3 other couples and the price was 25.00 per person....off carnival taxi was 27 and atlantis was 29. I dont believe we saw all of what was to be seen at atlantis however the whole thing lasted 3 1/2 hrs and we did see the aquarium an other stuff at the atlantis...the link in my sig has pictures from the tour if you would like to look at them...He gave me a buisinee card, i will try to find it and post is name and company....he talked the whole time about the history and different areas he took us to.

You'll save $35 to $50 pp going to Atlantis on your own. If read that after 5pm you can "sneak" in for nothing. Freeport is really just a shopping port. You'll have a great time.

In Nassau when you get off the ship you can take a ferry over to Atlantis for around $3 each. It is just a short ride, but when you get there you will walk up to the street, then on to Atlantis. Then on the way back you take a cab or van right at Atlantis. Does anyone have info on Adestra Botanical Gardens?

When we went to Nassau, we took the $3 ferry to Atlantis. The ferry was right across the street from the straw factory (which I also enjoyed). It just took us a few minutes to get to Atlantis. Once you get off, you just start walking toward Atlantis. The hotel-casino-aquarium is really nice. You can see part of the aquarium for free. If you actually want to see the rest of it, I believe it was about $30 a person. We had a great time and all it costs us was the ferry ride over and back. Definitely check out Atlantis because you'll regret it if you don't.
