Default E-Tickets

I booked a cruise thru a TA that I found thru cruisecompete.com. The TA told me that I would receive an E-Ticket to take to the port. If I wanted the cruise documents, I would have to pay some sort of $35 fee.

Has anyone ever used an E-Ticket to board a cruise ship? I've used on at airports. When I've used the ship boarding documents at the port, I don't remember them being real helpful except for the sail and sign page we filled out.
I've also already filled out my Fun Pass on Carnival.com, so I know everything is legit. I've just never heard of anyone using an E-Ticket.

Yes, I've heard of e-tickets for cruising, but so far have never received them. There is nothing quite like getting those docs in your hands, but I think e-tickets are the thing of the future.

For your purposes, your Funpass seves as your e-ticket. As Donna noted, paper docs will soon be "a thing of the past". In some cases, I believe there is nothing available but e-tickets.

E-tickets will bring a halt to the "doc dance"

A year ago, RCI emailed our cruise data for Jewel of the Seas. No doc dance, what a letdown.

Thanks for your replies. If their going to take away my Doc Dance, then they should at least supply me with a free unbrella drink when I board.
