Hello,
I'm so excited to be taking our first cruise, but I just in the beginning stages of planning, so much info.
What/is there a big differance in the decks (Riviera, Main and Lido)
Thanks for your help, I'm sure I will have more q's
The main difference is going to be convienence. If you want to be close to all the action then something on the Lido deck would be a great option. If you are more concerned about cost then the riviera deck is the way to go.
There are several popular opinions about what location is the best and all of them are good! You will need to try different areas as you take more cruises to find your favorite. Here are some things to consider:
The lower the deck and closer to the middle of the ship the less movement you feel.
The bow (front) of the ship has a bit more movement
The aft (rear) of the ship can be somewhat more noisy from the engines.
We have had rooms on just about all of the decks and from the bow to the aft and haven't really had a "bad' room yet. There is a bit more noise near the elevators but it hasn't bothered us that much.
mid ship from aft to forward and from top to bottom always seems to be the best. however, look at teh deck plans for what is on the level above you; for instance, if you go to bed early you wouldn't want to be one level before the show lounge. don't book a room to close to the elevators, stairwells, get a couple of doors down.
