Default Room safe

HI
What do you think about storing items for safe keeping in the room safe aboard the Valor? How much money do yoo usually bring along for a 7 day cruise with 3 stops? Thanks.

How much money do you have? I think the safes are very safe. We locked ourself out of our safe on the Glory. They told us only two people on the ship could open it.

Hi mkobrnc,

Whatever you put in the safe will be fine. I've never heard of anyone who's had their safe broken into. Be sure to put everything in a zipper bag so you don't lose anything under the "lip" of the safe.

The amount of cash you bring depends on what you'll be doing. Shopping on shore, independent excursions, casino, extra tips, etc., will cost extra $$$. Almost all of what you buy on the ship will be charged to the credit card you register when you board.

We generally bring $100.00 per day. We bring quite a bit back home , but better safe than sorry !

I'm sure others will have a different opinion !

The safe is fine and you won't lose a dime

Default valuables...

when it comes to valuables, it's best to keep it on you. Credit card or traveler's checks. not cash. it's like public lockersat the beach, staff have access to the rooms and also I'm sure have wayt to get into safes. Doin't take a chance.

Just an FYI. From what I remember it takes two security personnel to open a safe for you (one watches the other), plus proof that you're the person in the cabin. The Room Steward will not be able to open your safe.

We never worry about anything that we put into our cabin safe.

If I recall correctly, we needed a drivers license or credit card with a metallic strip to activate our room safe. I felt completely comfortable leaving items in the safe. I don't think a cabin steward could unlock the safe. I tend to be a pretty trusting person, though.

I left alot of money and very expensive necklaces etc in our room safe on our first cruise all because I didn't know what I should bring. That is why this web site is so wonderful getting information to anyone cruising. Also no one took anything and it was all safe and sound and I would do it all again on any cruise and use the in room safe.

Another option to use to activate/lock the safe is to use a room key from a hotel. That way you don't have to have a credit card or other valuable card out while onboard the ship.
