ECSTACY cruiseship...4 night..any reviews? advise?
my son will be 11 when we cruise in Jan 08, and its his first cruise and he's apprehensive.

Do they have good childrens programs. I've not heard much about this ship and what i have heard is more miss than hit.

its just a 4 night cruise, leave galv., sea day, cancun, sea day and then home.

In Jan he has a small break thurs- tues and this leaves that thurs and arrives back monday. He'd miss one day of school but we can let that go.

I cant find any other cruise out of galveston for that week (the 17-22) except this one. It will also be an xmas gift for our 22 yr old so were thinking of 2 inside staterooms instead of sharing one room.

any tips or advise would be apprecaited.

also how warm is it usually in JAN? i know galveston isnt warm, how long into the cruise before we hit warm enough weather to swim and lay out?

We will be doing the 4 day cruise on the 1st of March. We have been on the Ecstasy before and she is a good ship. There are plenty of activities that are conducted by the staff. The weather will be warm when you wake up the next day at sea. :D

Tell your son to get ready for the time of his life. The Ecstasy is great, but Carnival really makes things great for kids.

I didnt know the Ecstasy went to Cancun. That's a great place too. Let me go to the site, and see if what I am thinking about is available, and I will tell you about a great excursion we tried there.

Okay, I have checked, and your cruise is going to Cozumel. If you are wanting to go to Cancun, the best excursion is called the Shotover boat. It is a great excursion, and will offer you a chance to spend some time in Cancun. The only problem is that it gets back to late to see Cozumel.

We just got back from taking the Ecstasy on a 5 night last month, so I'm turning this over to my 11-year old son to let you know what HE thought about it!

You're going to have a FA N T A S TI C time! Make sure you close your mouth really tight when you go down the slide. The pool is salt water. And it's disgusting! We did Fear Factor and one of the kids puked because he ate onions covered with chocolate syrup, strawberries, blueberries, blackberries, was funny but I'm glad I didn't do that one. I had to squish berries with my chin. Make sure you don't become the first person for Fear Factor. They have mini golf, but don't bother playing when it's windy. I liked that I could make my own pizza. I liked the arcade most. At camp carnival you can play PS2 and you can play foosball. The food was good. It was fancy in the dining room. My mom said we had to try something new each day  , but it was GOOD! :)
My favorite was French onion soup. I went to 2 shows in the Blue Sapphire Lounge and I liked them. I got to play volleyball and it was cool because the wind went with us and it was easy to hit over the net. But we also got 10 nets because the wind would blow down too. I liked the buffet where the pool is because I get whatever I wanted to. You should try the danish for breakfast. The juices were great, too. I liked the fruit punch the best. Usually I mixed up fruit juice and apple juice. It makes it good. For lunch I usually got a hamburger and french fries. Then I usually went swimming for a little while and then I had to hurry and dry off to go to camp carnival. Try to make at least 1 or 2 friends. It's more fun. That's all I can think of right now. If you have any questions for me, have your mom post it. My mom looks at this a lot.

Hello Margaret and Caleb,

What a great review from someone who has "been there, done that"! Please be sure to post your review in the "Reviews" section here:

I'm sure many young people would love to read Caleb's post :)!

Couldn't have said it better myself, Caleb!

When we had our then 12 year old on the Celebration, she said it was more fun than Disney doesn't get much better than that!

When we did the Grand Princess, we were told by a younger teenaged girl, who was very proper in fact, that she preferred Carnival because it is so much more fun for kids her age and they got to stay away from grownups. LOL

Fern and Melody,
Thanks for the nice words! I let Caleb read your replies and he's beaming ear to ear! We posted in the review section. Now he's ready to go on his second cruise and come back and give a review...we've created a MONSTER!!! LOL
