Default Cash vs travelers checks

Hi Again
Can you use travelers checks to purchase things on the shore excursions? Which is better to bring along, cash or travelers checks?

I hope someone has the answer to this because I've always used my credit cards, but now they are saying there is a 2% service charge, plus currency exchange rates on credit cards!

We have always used cash. You have to carry it as far as the ship. Put it in the safe, and take out as you need it. With Travelers checks, you have to find someone to cash them. If you get the ship to do it, sometimes long lines.

You can use travelers checks and have them cashed onboard. They really aren't necessary, but not a bad idea either.

Default Do they have ATMS on Board?

I always use my visa check card on vacation. It is so much easier then cash or travelers checks. I take a very small amount of cash.

Do they have ATM machines on board if I find I need more cash? What is the service fee?

Thanks,

Brian

ATM onboard, but runs out of cash...$5.00 service fee (I think). Cruisemates correct me if I'm wrong!

Default atm's

also, are there easily accessible atm's in ports? if the ship's atm runs out of cash? I was going to use my mastercard/debit card and bring along one credit card for emergency's sake. I only plan to bring 50 $1 bills for baggage handling tips etc. would that be enough for a 4-night cruise?
