Default How to bring wine on a plane for the cruise

I understand that passengers are allowed to bring wine for consumption on the ship. Has anyone flown bringing wine with them. How did you pack it to check. I'm planning on brining approx. 6 bottles

Normally, I would hand carry good bottles of wine but thats just not possible any more with the new regulations. You have to pack them very carefully in your checked luggage and hope they don't break..

I'm buying my wine down there after I fly in. I just don't want to worry about soggy/ glass filled clothes when I get there.

For flying it would have to be in your checked luggage, not a carry on bag.

For sure you'd want to wrap is securly in bubble wrap, and I'd use plently of it. The last thing you want is wine stains on all your clothing.

In has go into your checked luggage. You can use bubble wrap and plastic bags. I would not pack it with any clothes.

Or get a box that you can check .... http://www.winestuff.com/acatalog/Reserve.html

I am a wino and fly with wine in my luggage all the time.

Here's what I do: Use two layers of bubblewrap, wrap securely with silver duct tape, then wrap with jeans or towels and put in your suitcase as securely as possible. Try to position the bottles away from the edges and toward the center, with a layer of jeans/towels on top and on bottom. For six bottles you may even need a separate suitcase.

See if you can buy wine once you arrive in your port city - then you can take 10 bottles!

Unfortunately, my sister did the same thing as the others above posted.

Bottles got smashed anyway and leaked when the glass cut through the plastic.

Buy the wine when you get to your destination. You really want your clothes ruined over a drink?

I bought one of those vintage hard-sided make-up cases at a yard sale for $1.00. Took out the mirror and the make-up trays. I bubble wrapped the wine really good and then complete encased it in plastic (with lots of duct tape). It arrived in our room in perfect condition. The make-up also had the added advantage of doubling as a mini-cooler in our room. We just filled it with ice.

That is cool but is considered a "carry bag" which you can't carry on. I wouldn't risk checking six bottles in an aluminum case with no padding. And it only holds six!
