I know this might sound crazy to some, but for people who own a dog or cat and can't find anyone to watch them for you and you are just dying to go on a cruise but can't, because you don't want to put them in a kennel, they should have a cruise ship for dog or cat owners.
Hey, they have hotels/motels where you can bring your cat or dog, why not a cruise??????
If they did my wife would be all for it. She stressed more about what we were going to do with our two Bichons than anything else. Hey they let kids go. Other than the POOP problem I don't see a real problem. Might get a little crowded with a bunch of of Great Danes on board.
You never know someone will come up with a "Paws-N-Parents" cruise.

After our first cruise we moved my husband's 28 yr old son back in so our pups are well cared for when we cruise. For about 7 yrs we went nowhere because we wouldn't leave our 2 Cocker Spaniels ihn a kennel (the older one has sizures and Cushings and is on meds twice a day). It works out well for all of us because he hated apartment living and we can cruise whenever we can afford to
I don't think so, think of the health issues. Not just for humans but the animals can contract things like kennel cough, etc.
I did read in my local paper today about a way to take dogs via ship to Alaska. None of the cruises allow this but if you take a ferry from British Columbia to Alaska you are allowed to take dogs.
you can take a dog im sure if you need one for a handicap. I even saw an episode of airplane(i dont buy it either lol) about a woman who needed her pet pekinese in the airplane with her because she had LUPUS. Still dont get that one!
im sure if you needed a seeing eye dog...maybe. But ummmm where would they "you know...." Poo can be picked up (kinda..but ewwww..i might walk around bare foot once in a while lol) but ummm pee? yucko.
I don't mean all the cruise ships would have animals on it, just a few. They would still have cruise ships with just people on it, and you can go on those. The animal cruise ship would be only for people who have a dog or cat and don't have anyone to watch the animal for them and they don't want to put them in a kennel, so they would bring them on the cruise with them. Like I said before, some hotels/motels allow pets, so why not a cruise ship???????

Now that's actually a thought, tweetybird! They have "specialty" cruises for other groups, why NOT one with pets.
Although, can you imagine.....what if someone says, "I'm bringing my pet boa constrictor!"
I can envision a whole new staff, too.....some for Camp Carnival and some for Kennel Carnival -- where the staff take the dogs for a walk/run, and supervise the kitties with their play-toys!
I'll bet you'd pay through the nose for that, though.....
I can't imagine taking my cat on a cruise (he freaks out just going to the vet ), but a dog would probably be happy !
For those who take a Service Dog, the mainstream lines have a pallet of grass for them to "do their thing" .
We have a wonderful house/cat sitter, which is perfect for all of us. BJ doesn't go to "cat jail" and the house is lived in.

Really, I'm trying to imagine a cruise ship with just one dog or cat per cabin. Naturally there will be people with more than one and there will be people who have something other than a dog or cat. But let's keep it simple.
Please, even the most extreme animal lovers have to see a problem with this.
Ohh...after I posted I saw the one previous......oh well!!
Most Expensive Transatlantic Cruise
$3,900/day
For cruising the Atlantic in style, it doesn't get better than Cunard's Queen Mary 2 ocean liner. The ship has an onboard Canyon Ranch spa and even a kennel program, supervised by a kennel master who will feed, walk and cuddle your pooch while you relax at sea. The six-day crossing in one of the ship's Grand Duplex suites costs $23,399.

I think if they ever come out with a cruise that includes pets I'll be sure to book it just to watch the fun-- I mean chaos.
I can see it now-- The Browns in cabin 123 have a toy poodle. Across from them ( in an inside ) the Jones family of 4 has their German Shepherd and pet boa. The lovely Smith's, 2 doors down brought their beagle and daschund, along with the 3 year old twins. Not to be left out, the guy with the tatoos and hairy arms has both his pit bulls. And this is just on part of Riveria deck-- not to mention the rest of the ship.
On the first formal night, the Jones' German Shepherd goes for the throat of the Brown's toy poodle, their boa gets a choke hold on one of the Smith twins, the pit bulls escape and make quick work of the beagle and daschund, then head for the main atrium where one gets a lock on the chief pursers leg and the other dry humps on the leg of an old lady by the bar.
Yep--- what fun people would have with their pets on a cruise.
Hey Ron, Thank you so much, I needed that laugh. I am sitting here reading this and could not stop laughing, that was so funny. Yeah, I guess you have a point there.
Just think of the barking and howling going on when they are left in the cabin. How about the ankle snappers. One has to relieve themselves and they do it on someone's fine evening gown. A plate of food is on a table and the person turns their back to look behind them and the food is gone. Throwing a frisbee around and it goes over the rail but starts back as they do. The dog runs for the frisbee and ooppss. Not to mention the odor of a wet dog. That is why my ex didn't cruise much because she has three dogs and had problems finding keepers for them.

We were on a cruise that had a seeing eye dog...the owners said that the dog would use a litter box while on the cruise. They had been on 3 or 4 with the dog.
How about the people with the really smart animals that have been trained to use the toilet. I know that first flush on a cruise ship was an experience for me....imagine little FeeFee!!
i think it is an excellent idea. have just a couple of ships that would have a large enough sound proof area with kennels and playing space. of course ship crew would have to be assigned to the area to keep it peaceful and clean. as for kennel cough, dogs get it when they go to the kennel, dog park or a visit to petsmart. i'm a professional petsitter and i did kennel my dogs a few years ago when i went on carnival i would never kennel again. the look on their faces when the kennel owner and myself locked them in that what they call "indoor/outdoor run". i did not have a good cruise that year. next cruise 4/29/07 i will have a petsitter come to my house 4 times a day take care of them until royal carribean comes up with Bow Wow of the Seas. happy cruising everyone!
anyone in need of a petsitter go to "www.petsit.com" plug in your zip code and petsitters in your area come up.
