My husband and I are planning a cruise in October in the Mediterranean on the Carnival Freedom Cruise Ship. (Celebrating our 35th wedding anniversay) We are looking for feedback - both good and bad - on the Carnival Cruise Line (i.e. overall experience, on board entertainment, service, activities, rooms, excursions, etc).
Also, anybody have any experience cruising in mid-October out of Rome? How is the weather? Any favorite places to stay in Rome? We will be spending five nights in Rome before sailing.
I've cruised the Caribbean on Carnival twice and don't have any experience with other cruise lines, so for what it's worth, here's my opinion. Overall--loved both cruises and I'm just starting to plan my third. Great mix of people of all ages who like to have fun and enjoy themselves. On Board Entertainment--I enjoyed the guest participation games i.e. Not So Newlywed, Hairy Chest and the comedy shows more than the stage shows which I thought were OK. Service--The staff on both cruises were wonderful. Incredibly friendly and helpful. I couldn't have asked for better people. Activities--I enjoyed the activities offered, but I would've appreciated some type of educational classes or demos which weren't available. Rooms--I was very happy with my room both times. One was an interior room and the other was an ocean view. They had plenty of space considering the limited amount of time I spent in them, and the beds were comfy. Excursions--I haven't had a bad one yet whether I chose to book thru Carnival or researched my options and booked them on my own.
