Default Most tresured item from cruise

I saw post on favorite ports but have not see one on treasured items you brought back.

So what do you collect on cruises? Do you have a special item that you got on a cruise? Carla

Hi Carla,

Shouldn't you be packing !

I collect owls, so I'm always on the lookout for them. I've found quite a few in the Western Caribbean, but not so many in the Southern Caribbean. Since my house is full of owls (much to DH's dismay, although he's the first to point them out to me in a shop !), I now look for very small owls.

I found some really tiny crystal owls on our last cruise (about 1") and I love them!

I also buy a refrigerator magnet from every ship and every port.

My favorites are a beautiful amber bracelet my husband bought for me, and a trivet that I use everyday in my kitchen. Every time I see the caribbean seascape on the trivet, I think back to the great times we had on the cruise.

His and Her's Rolexes from Little Switzerland in St. Thomas (I know they no longer carry Rolex, but in 1986 they did.) Every time I check the time, I think of cruising on the Holiday in 1986!!!!!

It helps pass the winter months more quickly.

I'm a sucker for photos by the ship's crew, especially the ones as you board the ship. Also T-shirts with the ship and itinerary of the cruise, and the mentioned fridge magnets.

Fern have you used the downey winkle remover if so does it work good? I found a medium size travel size bottle in the cabinet and figured I would take it after reading your post.

I have used Downey Wrinkle Releaser on the last 2 cruises and love how well it works! Won't leave home without it!

The one bottle may be enough (read the directions). I recall that it took very little. You may want to save that space for another pair of shoes!

Most treasured item ever from all my cruises is that on each and every one of them, I was totally away from work. No phone calls, no emails, not budget issues and no one could contact me.

We have a bi-annual Manager's meeting and my boss suggested we plan one of them for a 4 night cruise. I vetoed that in a hurry and explained that my vacations (always cruises) are the one place that I can completely get away from and not think about work and that a working cruise would ruin that for me. She understood, so no working cruises for me, thank goodness.

The most stress free times of my life are cruises - and that is my most treasured item.

Same here just sitting on the deck not having to answer any calls at work, breathing the clean ocean air, watching the people laugh, smile and have fun. Also the foo drinks in my hand while doing the relaxing makes for some very treasured moments on the two cruises I have been on.

Hubby collects tshirts from everywhere that we go. Drives me insane because he's so picky about them too. They have to be a certain style and he's relentless till he gets them too!

As for me, pictures are great and of course at least a magnet from everywhere.

One thing that we do though is find something that will grace our walls in our home. One year it was a Mayan calendar done in suede that we rolled up and brought back and then had framed. Another year it was a mask, once was a ceramic gecko or some kind of an unusal wall hanging. Those mean a lot to us and everytime I walk by one of them it brings back memories for me.

I came back with my future wife!

We got engaged on the Elation October 2004.

2nd favorite is the tattoo I got in Tahiti while there on the Renaissance in 2000.

You win in the memories Phil. Can't beat coming back with a wife!

As for the tattoo - brave man getting a tattoo somewhere else other than at home. Where did you get the tattoo (country - haha - not body part) and what did you get?

Default treasured item

This goes for every trip no matter the length or location. We buy a Christmas ornament and write on it somewhere the date and location, if it's not on the ornament. Sometimes that means adding a tag to the hanging loop. Sometimes we have to be creative as to what might be considered an ornament. It's so wonderful to take out our ornaments every Christmas and remember all the great places we've been, and the great times we've had as a family.

I enjoy the ship's lapel pins and the shot glasses from the ports.

We bought a inspiration ship ornament for $10 and I am going to write the date and ports on it. Then we are going to hang it (and future ones) on the wall next to our photos.
