Default how big are the safes in the state rooms?

Esp on the conquest?

will it fit my lap top? Several pieces of nice Jewelry, documents and camera? (i have a big daddy camera but dont want to carry it at all times and not sure im comfy with leaving my lap top and camera just hanging around my room.)

I can lock my suitcase and then lock the key in my safe...do you think that is as safe (well ofcourse not AS safe...but somewhat of a deterent?)

About 12x10x8. Your laptop definately won't fit. If your camera is extremely large [were talking as large as professionals use/inccluding the professional flash attachment] it possibly won't fit either. Most cameras will fit. If you want, you can lock your laptop in tour suitcase. That said, countless cruisers have left them in their cabins. I've never heard of a case of theft.

Writing for cruisemates I'm lucky enough to go on quite a few cruises. On all of them my laptop has sat out on the desk, and my camera on a shelf somewhere in the cabin.

I've never been concerned about them disappearing, and I've never had a problem.

thanks that is a relief I'm very anal about my laptop, every photo i own is on that hardrive, and each day i'll download more! I also plan on bringing some dvd's just incase we dont get reception (we like to sleep to a movie)

My camera is a nikon D50, semi professional, i have some really large lenses, but i guess keeping that stuff in my suitcase will be good enough!

thanks a lot

I hope you back all that stuff up on discs or even better an external hard drive. I have had laptops and desktops crash, where the hard drives have been wiped out completely!! External hard drives have got pretty cheap, so if you haven't used one, GET ONE.

BTW.. we have the same type of camera

I too have never had a problem with theft of any articles. I use the safe for wallet and passports when they are not needed on my person.

Nursey, I have never personally heard of anyone having anything stolen from their cabin. I would think that if you locked it in your suitcase, that would be more than sufficient. Don't stress over it too much. Nice camera! Is it time to sail?

Another option is a flash drive. It's very easy, convenient and portable. Google "usb flash drive".

I am very protective of my camera equipment. I shoot with a Canon EOS 20D. I also have interchangeable lenses. Also zoom and filtered lenses. I take them on every cruise we go on. I have left them on the desk with no thefts. The cabin is generally safe. I never take my laptop as it is part of my job. When I cruise I leave that stuff behind.
