Default St. Maarten - Orient Beach

Can anyone give information while in port at St. Maarten, is there an easy way to get to the famed Orient Beach for a few hours? And if so how much do you think it would be to get there and back to the ship?

we paid 30 per person for an entire trip of the island with a private taxi guy who stopped at Orient for us for about 20 minutes...it was the BEST stop of our entire cruise. It is breathtakingly beautiful.
I bet you can get a ride there and back for about 20 bucks per person?

We took a cab from the shopping area. We first got a cab to the shopping area (sorry - can't remember name, but the main "drag") and walked around there for an hour or so. Then got another car from that part of town to Orient. There were 7 of us, and we found a van taxi very easily. The driver agreed to come back at a pre-set time to pick us up, and he was very punctual. He took us straight back tot he ship. I can't remember the exact cost, but it was very reasonable. I'm thinking 5-10 per person each way maybe? At most. It was a 15 or so minute drive to Orient. Other side of the island, so you get to see where folks actually live and work. Beautiful beaches and tons of fun. Orient is part of a resort, so there are facilities and food / drinks right there. We're going back in May, and I can't wait!

We just came back from Orient beach less then two weeks ago,

As you get off your ship, you will see signs in the taxi area, of different places you want to go, to get to orient beach it is 18.00 for two or if you wait for a few more people to full the van the price drops to 6.00 each then, do the same for return, with three ships in port we only waited about 5 min. The taxi driver will be back what ever time you ask. It was awesome.

Orient Beach would be my choice. It had great snorkeling and a beautiful setting. We took a taxi, told him to take the long way, and he was very informative. He drove us to the beach where he had a "friend". The friend set us up with 2 loungers, umbrella, and 2 drinks each for a total of $20. It was fantastic!

Well let me tell you, that friend of his, told us that was the nude beach, took my 14.00 for the chairs, and , then came out yelling when my husband stripped and went into the water, its funny now, but not then, even when the old people next to us almost lost their false teeth from their mouths hung open., but it was a beautiful beach I agree.
